Question about Apple MacBook Pro Notebook

1 Answer

Macbook recognizes dell projector, but not vice versa

I have a 13" macbook (not pro) aluminum, and I'm trying to get my dell projector to display my desktop. However, when I plug it in (I bought the Apple miniDVI to VGA adapter), my macbook recognizes the projector, but the projector only says "Cannot display this resolution. Please check your PC display output." I've tried a lot of different resolutions (matching the macbook to the projector every time), but nothing's working.  What do I do?

    Thank you for the help!

My macbook didn't automatically find the right resolution for some reason. Apparently all that needed to be done was for the projector and the macbook to both be set on the highest resolution possible (that is, not the same resolution). I still don't understand why exactly, but that worked.

Hello,
Your Macbook should automaticaly find the best resolution, if everything was OK. Is there any HDMI input on the dell projector? What projector is it? Is there is an HDMI input, you can use a HDMI to mini DVI cable: better picture and sound than VGA, and will probably solve your problem

What might be the problem since my macbook pro is connected to the projector through a HDMI to VGA adapter, yet the screen remains black?

Vga and hdmi are different formats. Unless you are using a coverter box that translates the data from one format to another it won't work. Vga is analog and hdmi is digital

I can not update my mac to 10.9

Hard to say without knowing exactly what Mac you have and what specs, but most likely reason would be your system doesn't meet the requirements (From Apple support site) - To install Mavericks, you need one of these Macs:
  • iMac (Mid-2007 or later)
  • MacBook (13-inch Aluminum, Late 2008), (13-inch, Early 2009 or later)
  • MacBook Pro (13-inch, Mid-2009 or later),
  • MacBook Pro (15-inch or 17-inch, Mid/Late 2007 or later)
  • MacBook Air (Late 2008 or later)
  • Mac mini (Early 2009 or later)
  • Mac Pro (Early 2008 or later)
  • Xserve (Early 2009)
Your Mac also needs:
  • OS X Mountain Lion, Lion, or Snow Leopard v10.6.8 already installed
  • 2 GB or more of memory
  • 8 GB or more of available space

Recognize macbook connect

You may need to check the settings of your mac book that permits you to output the signal to an external display. Also you may need to purchase a display port adapter (VGA, HDMI or DVI) that is compatible with the input connector on the projector

Macbook pro screen boots to black. tried rebooting, screen comes on then goes black again. This happened after I unplugged it from a dell projector. Any suggestions???

Try pulling the battery out then holding the power button for 10 seconds. Put the battery back in.

If not search macbook pro recall apple has extended the warranty on some models due to a bad graphics card.

Dell 3400mp not getting signal from Macbook

If you were using the Apple S-video adapter to connect to your Dell projector, please realize that MacBook models with NVIDIA graphics cards do not support this adapter. Otherwise, please be more specific about what model Mac you have and what adapter cable you are using.

Mac driver need for dell projector

You shouldn't need a driver as long as the Mac video system resolution can be matched by the Dell projector. Considering you are using a Mac Pro I don't think this will be an issue. Have you tried it and it didn't work?
