Your Childesign crib was recalled. The manufacturer has been out of business for several years. The recommendation by the manufacturer is to stop using it due to the deaths of several babies over the years.
Most all of the Childesigns cribs have been recalled due to infant injuries or deaths. Please take this crib back to Walmart and they should offer you a refund (cash is nice) or a gift card (always good). Print this webpage out and take it with you. You dont have to have a receipt. Looking at the CPSC websight it does appear that the crib has been recalled in FEB. 2010. I personally have this crib and have had the problems with the sides detatching. I have had to use an alternate sleeping environment for my son. I just had the time to look into the recall myself. There is more information at www.CSPS.gov which will give you the information on how to proceed with the recall.
No. The cribs being recalled are made by StorkCraft but any crib with a drop side that has plastic parts could pose a problem. Make sure the side latches securely and that the space between the side and the mattress is not large enough for a child's head to get trapped.
check the hardware on the sides clip may be broken or missing also check to see if ur crib is made by stork craft there is a massive recall or cribs that the sides go down on call 877-274-0277 ur crib might be involved in the recall or u can log on to http://www.storkcraft.com
I am unsure if t Childesign has ever had any recalls. However, you can use the CPSC's governemnt website to find out for sure. The site is www.cpsc.gov. Also, Childesign has gone out of business and left no avenue for their customers to take in order to replace missing or broken parts. You will find it very difficult, if not impossible, to find the parts you need.
You know I just purchased a Childesigns crib from a garage sale thatI thought had everything needed. When I got home, we found it was missing one top plastic rod. Of course nothing will work without that. I found this webpage that sells a VERY similar product.
http://www.productsamerica.com/page65.html. It is not exact, but to be able to use the crib, this was a good option for us. Hope this helps.
