yes
an accredited electrician can test the circuits for insulation failure , vermin shorting across active / neutral/ earth points and the rcd itself
it is not a diy job

Keeps tripping the electric mains replaced element but still does it HOTPOINT

Try increasing the ampere rating of your breaker or remove other load(i.e. aircon unit, water heater, washing machine etc.) when dryer is connected so as not to overload your breaker that is causing mains to trip. If previously you are using the dryer with the same setup and loads maybe the breaker is the problem.

Hob on my hotpoint oven trips my RCD

It is either a faulty ring, or the regulator that controls it is faulty.
You really need a meter to test the ring with to be certain which part is faulty.
Hope this helps.

Taking an amoured cable off the downstairs ring

Yes a 30mA RCD is required for any 240v outdoor use. Check if there is an RCD on the house main switch breaker first tho'.

The main rcd keeps tripping off round about the same time everyday

do you have a fridge with a defrosting cycle? quite often when a fridge goes into defrosting mode it can dump some voltage to earth which trips the RCD. The other possibility is an electric pump turning on doing the same thing. or it could be a trouble with your power source. if you give me more information i could possibly help you more.

Hotpoint Aquarius SDW60 is tripping the mains power

is the circuit protected by an rcd/rcbo or a standard mcb as this may be a neutral to earth fault/insulation breaking down...try and get the machine portable appliance tested

Hotpoint washing machine keeps tripping electric

First unplug your washer. Check the ground on the washer and make sure it isn't loose; this would be a good time to inspect the wiring harness for any problems. Next check the outlet (turn off the electric to that breaker first) make sure all the wires are tight and are making good contact; pay special attention to the neutral (white) wire. If that seems fine, and you are comfortable with going into you breaker panel, turn off that breaker and check the hot (the wire on the breaker) to make sure it isn't loose and then check the neutral wire. If either of these wires seem loose tighten them down....a loose wire will move when a load is put on it and cause the breaker to trip. If all seems normal and washer is still tripping the breaker you might want to replace the breaker.....they can go bad. Good luck!

Neff U1421 main oven trips the circuit breaker.

It might be that the breaker is overloaded and it's no longer supporting the load of all the appliances together. If you do not want to change your breaker you can still use your oven by switching off other appliances that is running while you are using the oven

I plugged in a vacum on the same outlet and the alarm went off what do i do

if the alarm went off when you plugged in your vacum it must be on the same circuit or on the rcd side of the consumer unit which must have tripped when you plugged in the vacum if you rewire the fuse or just turn on the trip on the breaker or on the rcd then reset your alarm and this doesnt sort it out or it keeps repeating then then ring a local electrician
