I have an mp3 player that I purchased while locked up in a Federal prison, I am now at home and want to find out how to remove the security device.

Can you force it to do a "factory reset" ?
This would reset it to a state BEFORE the prison's I.T. team installed any software.

My mp3 only plays 10 seconds of each song. how do i fix this?

Your player's play mode has been set to "intro" mode. You can fix it if you select the settings from the menu and change the play mode to "normal".
Good luck!
Thanks.

I have a coby 610-8g. It won't play

Hi,

Please reset the unit (disconnect the player if it is connected to a computer), use a paper clip to gently press the "RESET" button located on the rear of the player.

If the symptoms still persist follow the steps below.
1. Enter the settings mode to set your player's system option.
2. To enter the settings mode, select "Settings" in the main menu.
3. Scroll down and select "Reset" to restore all of the player's setting to factory default state.

Hope I helped you.
Have a nice day!
Thanks for using Fixya.

My mp3 player says that it doesn't have any files but I did put songs on it. What's wrong with it?

look at the settings option.See what it says under usb mode.Try msc mode.If it doesn't work try mtp mode.
Will the files play on your computer
When you look at the properties are the files protected-this would stop them playing unless you have bought the files and your player is compatible

SONG ONLY PLAYS FOR 30-40 SECONDS

pure,

Most probably you accidentally switch the play mode to " INTRO" check your display if it does indicate Letter " I" in it. if does any music you play will be in "INTRO" mode. IF you still have the manual for your player check the 'PLAY MODE" setting. From this setting you can choose play mode from "FOLDER" "NORMAL" "INTRO""REPEAT 1" REPEAT ALL" to play in continuously select "NORMAL" mode.

I'm not sure if your player do have the same procedure in changing play mode . But try this , while on play mode . Press menu and a dialogue box will appear scroll and select "NORMAL"

cheers,
mark

Downloads

1. Downloads must be on your computer.
2. Turn on Mp3 player, go to settings, make sure USB mode is set to MSC.
3. Connect MP3 player to the computer.
4. If using Windows operating system, click the Start button, go to 'My Computer'
5. There should be a drive labeled 'Removable Disk', drag your music files to this location.
6. Disconnect MP3 player from the computer
7. Play audio files

*Note - Audio files must be MP3 or Unprotected Windows Media Audio files (that is all this unit will play).

Deleting demo songs

For Windows XPTM users, you are connecting the device in MTP mode to the computer by default. You will need to set the device to MSC mode, so go to the device menu\Settings\Advanced\Protocol = > Press Play/Pause key to select MSC mode which will appear as such on the screen. Reconnect the device to the computer, and you can now see those files and delete them.
DO NOT forget to set the device back to MTP mode when finished, so go to device menu\Setting\Advanced = > Select MTP mode.

Messed Up.

hi what you need to do is put the mp3 into recovery mode to do this follow these instructions
1 with mp3 player off push hold/lock button to lock position(this is what you press to stop you pressing buttons when its playing it locks the buttons out) switch this to lock
2 press and hold rec button on left hand side keep holding down
3 whilst holding rec switch mp3 player on keep holding rec button untill it comes on it should now say recovery mode.

Dont do this whilst plugged into computer and dont plug into computer after its in recovery mode untill told to

once its in recovery mode got sandisk website and download the latest firmware once you have downloaded it onto your computer then open the file on your computer it will then talk you through the rest of the procedure this will solve your problem.

Let me know how you get on or if you need further assistance ok

Deleting

If your listening to your mp3 player on the computer, then you can't delete any songs. Exit out of the music player and then delete all of your songs.

Device not connected

The Sansa Media Converter will only detect the device in MSC mode, or Plays For Sure (e250R) mode.

Change the mode in the Settings>MODE or USB MODE on the device and re-connect.
