I delete songs by going to "my computer" then to my device. then on my device i go in to the music folder and delete all the songs on it. There are no songs left in the folder. But when I unplug my sansa from the computer all the songs still show up on my device! when you click on them, it says "bad track" so i have a bunch of non-working songs on my mp3! People are telling me to use windows media player to delete songs off my sansa... but when i go to windows media player it still says i dont have any songs on my sansa! please help!!
When you plug the device into your computer just look at it with the file manager. If you can't see the media files, make certain you have selected in windows "show all files". You need to see the hidden files, including operating files. Be very careful only to delete files that you think are the corrupted media files.
If you are on windows 7 you can look at my blog site which will explain how you can select the options to view all files.
It's under the section about windows media player art problems.

Hi,
A 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
Best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
The service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
Good luck!

SOURCE: can't delete songs from the e200
I had this same problem with my Sansa e280, I did some research and found that MTP mode is used when syncing with Windows Media Player. So if you plugged in your player under MTP and simply tried to drag and drop using Windows Explorer the player won't recognize. I have heard that you should be able to view them on the Sync tab in WMP but I personally have not tried.
The way I got rid of the songs was by going into my Sansa Settings and changing the USB mode to MSC, opening the Player by going to My Computer, then (if using Windows XP) click on Tools > Folder Options. Click on the View tab and Select "Show Hidden Files and Folders". Click "OK" Then Right click on the MUSIC Folder and Select "Properties" Uncheck "Read Only" and "Hidden". Unplug your Player and it will restart. Viola, no more ghosted songs.

I did not get the "Swtich to Recovery mode" screen, my screen was stuck on "Bad Track." I formatted the drive (which deleted EVERYTHING), and then i put the songs back on, and it works just fine. Try this, it might help.
