The ink may be old and dried up. The heads may need to be cleaned. If so you should have installed a program with the printer that monitors the printer and in that program will be a head cleaning routine. Or you can look in the manual and it should explain how to clean the heads by doing somthing to the printer itself.

Did you try a test print. Most printers have a option to set the ink color, this is done when your computer asks you if you want to print. Look for an options tab and search for ink color options pick black only and try a test print. The test print is done on printer set up. If all else fails try the manual it usually has a troubleshoot section. Oh yes make sure you have the correct usb port some are configured at a lower level ( mine has 2 different ones a 2.0 and a 3.0 the 3.0 is blue when you look inside of it) my 2.0 port wouldn't set up my printer I had to use the 3.0 port. Printer prints fine so far as text, but a black and white photo has streaks in it. Black Ink level shows it isn't low

Try to clean the printhead nozzles. From the printer operator panel, press the Setup button > Maintenance > Deep Clean Printhead. Your printer will then print a test page forcing ink through the cartridge nozzles and clean them. Try to print your photo again to verify that the print quality has improved.
Also, make sure your printer is udpated. Please visit the Lexmark website to download and install the Lexmark Pro200 Series Firmware Update. The update will help give you a highly reliable print system.
If that doesn't help, please contact Lexmark Technical Support Center for additional assistance.

The printer does not want to recognize that the ink cartridge has been changed. Not only does the message regarding the ink level not change, the ink itself isn't getting into the printer - ie. test...

This is a common problem that Brother is well aware of; in fact, if you call Brother at 1-877-276-8437, they will tell you where to take the machine to get the printhead replaced at NO Cost to you.

hi im josh in cebu phils.may i help you? Friend the problem is the ink level dropped 3/4 after printing 7 pages and low exclamation mark in red. Friend it is the real deal since you are using a free ink cartrdge with your printer that ink is only a sample one and the content of that cartridge is not full thats why it dropped to empty in just a few pages of printing. It just appear full in the ink level monitoring since the printer auto detects new cartridge on the tank. It is just so You need to buy a new ink cartridge the one with the full content.and i'm sure it will last a long time since it is already full. thats all friend good luck hope i helped you.

Misrepresented product?

No manufacturing process is flawless. These things happen. Return to staples for an exchange. Most managers will exchange ink even after the 14 days. If they dont, then buy new ones and recycle the nonworking ones for $3 on your rewards statement. I have seen people come back the same day after they bought a brand new HP ink cartrige beucase it does not work. Its not that they had the wrong cartridge, its just that it was a bad one.

Ink replaced, but sows nothing

A yellow exclamation mark in any application means the attatched item to it is usually in error state, but you say the printer works fine. Most people would tell you to not touch what is working!!! But leaving anything showing error risks further confusion and problems. I think that you problem is probably very simple. Do you know hao to reset your ink levels. Read your manual that came with disk or go to the onscreen help. You may find this will remove the issue. If it does not, then you may have a corrupted driver etc, and may need to uninstall the printer, and reinstall it again. Good luck.
