p100d error code is due to fault in EGR Valve. The EGR valve shuts off to when 3000rpm is exceeded.so the EGR Valve needs to be checked and replaced. Thanks. you can rate this solution and show your appreciation.

SOURCE: renault kangoo 1.9 deisel smoking bad diesel

classic symptoms of petrol in diesel ,but with these engines their is no keyway on the timing belt sprockets and its not unusual for the sprocket to move if a new timing belt has been fitted ,Now their is a special tool for alignment of the crank to tdc ,on the front of the engine level with the crank right hand side about 2 inches from the bell housing is a bolt ,this comes out and a special tool is inserted to locate TDC its like a long pin ,then crank is locked into this position with another special tool that locks the starter ring gear .and the cams are locked with another special tool .also its a common rail and to locate a injection fault then this vehicle uses encrypted software that can only be read by the dealer over an internet connection with renault thats well secure as it calls back the dealer to confirm caller ID then the operator has to put his finger print into the computer to open the connection.Check the fuel first and see if it smells of petrol ??

SOURCE: losing power when I accelerate my renault scenic, elecronic fault

I took my car to a Renault dealer and they solved the same problem by replacing the non-standard 4 prong spark plugs that the previous owner had in the car with the standard 2 prong spark plugs Renault recommends. My water pump also needed to be replaced (different issue, and was identified with a mechanical noise). I also proactively changed the fuel and oil filters along with new oil.

You might also want to look at getting the coils tested, as these tend to fail often causing loss of power, and a mechanical noise.

In most situations, it is better to take your car to the approved Renault dealer to check the fault. My experience with using other mechanics to fix faults on the car was less than desirable, and ends up costing more.

This is a common problem with these vehicles, most likely to be a faulty rotor sensor on the fuel pump but can sometimes occur due to dirty connectors within the relays and related wiring. The rotor fix isn't a major deal.

Pete, if you get no code from a reader, it only means it is a physical problem and not in the system. You could possibly just have a dirty connection at one or all glow plugs power wires. This wouldn't change the mpg at all. The EGR, if faulty diaphragm, would cause a loss of power, but that's mainly on a gasoline engine. Not sure on diesel unless the EGR is in the center of the air inlet of manifold. I removed my intake on my old Chevy 6.2 diesel and replaced it with an open one from a higher performance 6.2 and it gave it much more power because now there's no air restriction because no EGR is in the intake. This stopped the excessive smoke from exhaust also. That's just MY experience, and I just LOVE diesel.
