I got the screen message to change the lamp. I was too busy to do so. After about two weeks with the message, the colour changed to mostly green. I changed the lamp but the colour is still mostly green.

  • richardjg153 Jun 26, 2009

I bought the replacement lamp through Hy-tech electronics in Mississauga and it appears to be original Panasonic. The lable on the box says Panasonic and the Instruction & Warranty appear to be original Panasonic.

  • richardjg153 Jun 26, 2009

I did get the Lamp time reset instructions. I tried to follow the instructions but I did not get the response screen "Lamp Time was reset to 0". However, when I turn on the TV, I no longer get the message about "Replace the Lamp....."

  • richardjg153 Jun 26, 2009

Sorry. I am still getting the "Replace the Lamp" message. I'll try the Lamp time reset procedure again and advise.

  • richardjg153 Jun 26, 2009

I followed the Lamp time rest procedure but got no reaction. While pressing the VOL button on the unit, I held down the SPLIT/Play button fpr more than 5 seconds. No response.

  • richardjg153 Jun 26, 2009

I turned off the TV and unplugged it from AC. Waited 5 minutes, turned TV on and pressed VOL while holding SPLIT/PLAY. Still no "Reset" message only the "Replace Lamp" message.

  • richardjg153 Jun 26, 2009

I confirm that the model is PT-50LC14-K.

My remote does not have PIP button.

  • richardjg153 Jun 27, 2009

I have now received the proper "Lamp Time was Reset to 0 message". Thanx, I think that it was waiting until the "Change Lamp" message had gone that made it work.

Unfortunately, the picture is still mostly green.

  • richardjg153 Jun 27, 2009

I have tried in the menu:

Picture then picmode, color, tint. No change from mostly green.

Is there a menu item for "Factory settings"?

  • richardjg153 Jun 27, 2009

The whole TV picture is very greenish. I cannot get any real red eg Coca Cola or Tube in You Tube.

However, I did try the DVD player and it was fine. Therefore, I assume that this means that it is a TV problem with Rogers Cable and that I should try their service department on SAT. Correct?

    Thanks

  • richardjg153 Jun 27, 2009

TV now fine. As per Rogers Cable, I just had to tighten the connection of the cable into the the cable control box and the greenness disappeared. From the tone of the Rogers technician, this sounds like a fairly common problem.

    Thanx

  • richardjg153 Jun 27, 2009

    Solution was very helpful.
Step-by-step procedure for resetting the lamp hours was successful.
Checking the DVD picture to show that it was a cable problem also was successful.
    Thank you.

OK, is it Panasonic PT-50LC14 TV? Please confirm model number as other model using same lamp requires some other button to press to reset lamp.

Lamp reset procedure is same as you already have info.
Power up TV, let lamp reset message goes away. (I think it will go away in couple of minutes or so)
Press and hold -- Vol button on TV front and press Split/ Play button on remote of TV for more then 5 seconds. You will see Lamp reset display on screen.

Thats good, lamp hours are reset now.
Please check any option of reset to factory default settings in Menu and reset TV accordingly.
There is no obvious reason of greenish picture in this TV.
    Thanks.

There is no factory default settings for user in menu.
Service manual has service menu for various settings in TV and its for TV tech to do that.
Do you see little greenish picture or its just greenish.
Check picture result on other inputs/ video source like dvd player etc.

Check the circuit Board for dry joints or soldering..At the time of lamp replacement..chance of dry soldering of other componenets. It is not a major problem....search for glued resistors.
Same problem i am faced for blue color earlier. and solved.

Should I replace my lamp for my Panasonic 1080i htd t.v. pt-50LC14

Replacing a lamp won't work. There is not even one lamp in your TV. I'm afraid the lightening has done more damage than can be repaired. Even when some tech manages to repair te error, the TV can have the next error in days or weeks.
Try reading something about ESD. Electro Static Discharge and what it does to electronics. Electrostatic discharge

Panasonic PT-50L14 50 lamp has no obvious defect

My first step would be to check the owners manual under troubleshooting for the lamp code for blinks green then red. I suspect the problem is in either the ballast that drives the bulb, or the bulb (P/N TY-LA1000) itself - you can't usually tell a bad one from a good one by looking at it. The ballast is difficult to replace, and I would call in a repairman to fix it if a new bulb didn't do the trick.
