Geezer, sounds like a defrost issue. I usually find the bi-metal to be the culprit on this model. Check out the pic. You will have to remove the back panel in the freezer and defrost the evaporator. Remove the ice maker if there is one. The back cover has 4 quarter inch screws. remove those. The air vent has 2 plastic clips one each side and one on the bottom, push in and pull the grill off. The thermistor cover has a slot for a flat blade screw driver, push in and pull the cover off. The thermistor will now slide behind the back panel. Check the bi-metal for buldging. As long as the evaporator fan is working, it's probably a defrost problem.

SOURCE: frig not cold but freezer is ice maker not making much ice either

Is your fan blowing in the freezer? Frost on the back wall of the freezer usually indicates a defrost problem... defrost themostate, heaters, take back panel off and check evap for frost build up and if your fan in working.

SOURCE: amana side-by-side fridge freezer only cold at the bottom

yes the evap fan in the frezer should be running when the compressor is running[it may not for a minute or so as it starts up.Amana's are good for the connectors at the evap fan motor comming apart.the connectors are white and will look like its together but when you pull it will come apart.i would always cut the connector out and use a wire nut so wont happen again.if any other questions please email thru FixYa and i will be glad to help. God bless ,tom

Wow
Ican not understand what you need.
So I am guessing here
Ice has built up on the evaporator coil stopping air flow to the food section.
Try manually defrosting the fridge. If this works then the auto defrost cycle has failed and you will need to get a technician to help you

I have a problem with my kenmore refigerator. model number, 79852990 top freezer. For a while water wud fill the top left drawer. Now, the water ends up on the bottom of the fridge. Where does all this...

The defrost drain is plugged if you do not see a drain cup in the fresh food section then remove the back wall of the freezer and see if the drain trough is iced up.

Frezeeer works fine. Refridgerator (top) does not

good morning,
with this unit there are two issues that could be cusing this...
check to make sure you can hear the fan in the freezer,
2nd check your back wall for frost, sometimes this model ices up in the air chanels, to know for sure you will have to remove both the walls and the back wall, it takes a lil time but it can be done with only a screwdriver,
once you get the back wall off look up in the corners, of the freezer, it there is frost or ice blocks , remove those and reassemble you should be ok
make sure the drawer is closing properly

Fridge not getting any air, freezer is working

I have a Kenmore w/ freezer on bottom. The top vent in the fridge is ducted to the freezer and is supposed to blow air. Mine was not.

I removed all the frozen goods and took off the back panel (inside to unit) which had a little ice on it. Underneath the panel was a solid wall of ice......including the motor which is supposed to blow air up to the 'fridge. I'd bet a beer that is your problem as well.

The ice seized motor will not be harmed because it is resistance loaded.

The best part is with a blow dryer and some elbow grease...the fix is free! I hope it helps.

Amana (freezer on top) not making ice; fridge warm

I would be calling the store from where it was purchased it should be under warranty. If the ice maker is not working the freezer is not getting down to proper temp. therefor the refrigerator does not cool because all cooling takes place in the freezer, there is a damper between the refrigerator and freezer that allows air through cooling the refrigeration section. Look for ice on the back wall, of the freezer section, If present then the defrost cycle is not working. The evap.coil is icing up and there is no air blowing into the refrigerator. This is the most common problem.
