I was watching tv tonight when all of the sudden it shuts off. Pushing the remote button doesn't help, so I get up and turn it on myself. It starts with an auto search. Can't seem to get it to stop, so I let it run, but it keeps going and going. I have to unplug it to stop it, wait a few seconds and plug back in. Does fine for about 30 minutes when all of the sudden it scans again. Now it's to scanning every 3 minutes. WHAT THE HECK???? I have owned it for about 2 or 3 years and this is the first time I have had this issue?

I have a set I'm working on right now, same model number and symptoms. It is a fairly common problem and the repair consists of replacing 3 transistors, one resistor and one VDR (voltage dependent resistor), along with re-soldering some connections on the main PC board. You'll need a technician to do the work, and it will likely be well over $100 to repair. I would consider replacing the set with a HDTV model if you can afford to. The picture tube may be the next to go.
On your dish remote, press and hold the tv button until all 4 buttons light up, then release. push either of the power buttons once. Now start pushing the down channel button, It's the one right below select, continue pushing it until tv turns off. When tv goes off push down button one more time then push up button, when tv turns back on stop and press # key, tv light will flash 3 times and should be set. Note....if u press down button and tv does not turn off after going through all codes( tv light will start flashing) press cancel and try again only channel up this time. hope this helps.
For the first one, please list the model number and count the blinks. Also, can you please post each problem separately. It will get too confusing trying to address 3 sets with different but similar problems.
don`t know if this will work for yours but I have heard of menu coming up all by itself randomly and the fix was to remove the batteries from the cable boxes remote and the tv`s remote, partially stuck on buttons were the cause, replaced the remote end of problem, hope this helps on yours.
Sounds like you have a button on the control panel that is sticking in the "on" position.
I had set in my shop the other day and someone had gotten baby powder spilled into the buttons. I had to replace all the buttons (switches).
If a button goes bad these sets will go crazy!
I know from experience!
