My car radio / cd player seems to have locked itself - it made 3 beeps and since then does not respond. I have tried everything that I can think of. What else can I try?

Seems a lot of reports like this have been noted and unfortunately the FIX cost more than replacing the electronics. My suggestion...make your move to a new unit.
try disconnecting the battery for a few minutes to reset the radio. Sometimes a microprocessor will lock up. You can reset it by disconnecting the battery.
i'm not sure if there is a flexible cable that goes from the face to the motherboard. if there is, that could be the problem. it could also be a bad switch.
If I unplug all the wires from the CD player won't the security system lock up my stereo system? Which means that I have to go to a dealer to get the code from them.
