Normally you can't cancel a bid, because by clicking on acceptance of bid placed, you entered into a contract and commitment to buy that item! But under certain circumstances, you can, I think yours applies?

Log in to your eBay account...

  • up in the upper left side, to the right of your Name,
  • Click on "Help & Contact"
    • 2 things here.
    • you can see the items your are bidding on or selling
  • either click on the item in question
  • scroll down to what you need to do - cancel or retract
or you can TYPE into the
  • "More Help Options" box
    • "Cancel Bid" or "Retract Bid"
  • Another way: "Contact Seller" Explain your situation and be NICE, they have the ability to cancel your bid from their side.
Good Luck

How do I cancel bid ?

To retract a bid, sign into your eBay account, and then go to this page http://offer.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?RetractBidShow. You will need the item number of the auction, and a valid reason for retracting the bid. You can also contact the seller, and ask them cancel the bid for you.

How to cancel bid

Assuming the auction hasn't ended ... contact the seller to request that he cancels your bid ... give him a good reason ...
If the seller is good/nice about it, the seller will void/cancel your bid. Or, if someone else bids higher than you, then you're off the hook; i.e. no need to ask to retract your bid.

How do I cancel a bid on ebay

There are two ways to cancel bids on eBay. The first is for the seller to cancel a bid made on their auction. The second is for buyers to cancel bids they made on other's auctions. Both come with very specific rules that prohibit any auction misconduct.
Canceling a bid made by someone else.
Review the reasons allowed for canceling a bid. Go to the cancellation page if the bidder is someone whose identity you have not been able to confirm.

You should also access this page if the bidder asks you to cancel the bid, or if the item being auctioned is no longer for sale. Fill out the cancellation form. Give the reason that the bid is being cancelled. Use the cancellation feature sparingly, as the cancellation and your reason for cancelling, will be recorded in the bid history. b> Canceling a bid made on someone else's auction. b> Use the bid retraction form to cancel a bid you have made. Make sure your bid meets the criteria for a retraction. Retract if the bid price you entered was wrong, and then correct the bid amount. Retract your bid if the auction description was changed and you no longer want the item as it is now described. Use the retraction form if you need the reach the seller for some reason and their contact information is invalid. Retract your bid that was made before the final 12 hours of the auction, as the option will not be available after that time. Retract bids made during the last 12 hours, only within an hour of the bid. Use the retraction feature as rarely as possible, as the number of times you have retracted a bid will appear on your feedback numbers. Hope this helps.

My daughter at claney8232 placed a bid for $10.00 and as she went to press . she pressed , instead which gave ortomatically submitted a bid of $1000.00 can we have this removed as our screen still shows...

You can withdraw a bid under certain circumstances.
From EBay page.... Find this in the EBay answer center, All about bidding,
...
However, honest mistakes sometimes occur. You can retract a bid if you have a valid reason for doing so as defined by eBay policy and you retract the bid within the required time period.

Valid reasons for retracting a bid include:

  • You accidentally entered the wrong bid amount. For example, you bid $99.50 instead of $9.95. If this happens, you need to reenter the correct bid amount right away.
  • The item's description changed significantly after you entered your last bid. For example, the seller updated the details about the item's features or condition.
  • You can't reach the seller by telephone or email.
Changing your mind is not a valid reason for retracting a bid. In the future, be sure to carefully review the listing before bidding.
