Computer Monitor Goes Blank

Its Proview Monitor (pl926wbi) Model# 900w I've already read some comments about this model on this site already, didn't really help. The symptoms with this one are that when you turn on the monitor, it displays whatever is on the screen then goes blank. The power is still on but it goes blank. Also when it’s on, the whole screen is a pink tint. I'm a very handy man and already have everything apart. I'm just not sure what part I should start with replacing or soldering. Thanks guys!

SOURCE: I have a proview monitor PL926WBI Model 900W

It seems to be that something gets hot inside after a few minutes of operation of the monitor. So I placed a small fan so that air flows thru the monitor and that did it. What gets hot inside , I don't know.

My monitor goes blank after being on for around 10 seconds. When I reboot the computer the monitor will turn on and off and on and off again. When the computer is booted completely, the monitor goes blank....

hi

It is a little tricky problem. But anyways this is due to small capacitor leak you have to replace it to make it work well. You can identify it by seeing the top of it. See the below pix for more info.

I have a proview 900w and it comes on but only for a couple seconds then the backlights turn off. Does anyone know how this might be fixed?

check your signal cable from your computer or the port itself. one of those might have a problem causing the monitor to go off.

thanks

I have a proview PL926Wbi 900w flat screen monitor and yesterday it flickered a little and today it flickered again and went completely black but i can still see the desktop if i use a flashlight can...

sv007p, Uh, yeah, I could, but I'm probably too far away. I've repaired 3 with same symptoms as yours has. At least you read about the flashlight diagnostic trick!! It' not completely DEAD, YET! Leave it off for now. It will not get better by itself. If the last time you were using the monitor, like say a week ago, and it still had a "clear, sharp, bright" screen then there is hope. What has happened is that the INVERTER circuit that provides 800-1300v to light-up the horizontally hung Cold-Cathode-Fluorescent-Tubes has failed, or the Switch-Mode-Power-Supply has a degraded 12-20v dc output. Without some basic soldering tools, solder, meter, parts source, you will not be capable of effecting a repair on your own. If you do or don't meet the criteria above, get back to me and I'll tell you other options that are open to you as a consumer. I'm louie12fix on fixya or lmistyrel@ aol.com BYE for now.

Blank screen with message "mode not supported"

Hi

How have you connected the monitor to the computer?
Is it through the vga or the dvi port?
Pls press the monitor menu button and change the mode to vga or dvi depending on the connection that you have now.
You might also get a vga to dvi adapter and connect the monitor to the computer.
