Our 13-month old Whirlpool Duet just starting leaking from the back. I had a service technician out today and it turned out the drive belt was not installed properly at the factory (one groove too far to the back on the pulley). It wore through the belt and then part of the belt staring flapping around and hit the vent tube often enough to finally wear hole in it. The vent tube is to allow air movement through the drum and to prevent suffocation if a child got in it. The lower part has water in with the washer is filled. The tech had never seen this before. He's ordering parts while I start pressing Whirlpool to pay for the repair even though I'm a month beyond the warranty.

Water runs out of bottom of drum through machine onto floor

The first thing to check is the bellows, also called the front seal. Look for any tears, if any found, that would be your problem. If not, then the next thing is to take the top off the machine by removing the screws in the back of the upper part of the machine and checking the lines that run from the water valve to the dispenser.

Leak

Hi, If you remove the lower half of the front panel, you will be able to see the pump and hoses. Another option is the bellows around the door. Please let me know if this helps or if I can assist you further.

Thank
Vic

Water leaking from the door and front panel of my Duet washer

Check the rubber door seal, sounds like its split which is common after 2-3 years use.
You can find the general area of the leak by placing dry newspaper on a dry floor beneath the machine.

I have a whirlpool duet. I had washed 8 towels 2

To get inside the machine for a look, you have to take the back panel off,
1. Pull the plug
2. Turn off and then Disconnect the HOT and COLD water hoses at the machine
3. Remove bottom, side and all but 2 top corner screws from the back panel (all around the outer edges only) then supporting the panel, remove one corner screw, let the panel down on that side, then remove the other.
4.Remove panel
5. Grab a light, look inside.

My guess is that the spinning, wobbling drum worre a hose thru.

Good Luck!
Hint: Put all the back panel screws in loose, all the way around... then tighten them

Water leaking on the floor while filling

Open the back of the washer. Start the fill cycle and observe where the water is leaking from. You are not going to get a full view of the entire tub by only opening the lower front access.

Washer is leaking

Check the rubber bellow (gasket) around the door. This is the symptom of a door gasket that it starting to leak. Pull the rubber folds back and check the area where the gasket attaches to the wash tub. You may have a crack or tear. If the gasket is worn please replay back to this post and I can give you advice on how to replace it and where to get a replacement gasket.

Whirlpool Duet Washer 8500 Dispenser Leaking

Ok try not to pull the dispenser too far out. When you pour the liquid detergent in the dispenser I belive it should say in the cup. For the shaking if the washer is not on a solid surface like a cement floor it will shake and walk if the floor is weak. Also make sure the delivery guys removed the 4 shipping bolts in the back. If the dispensor still leaks call for service bucause its new. Also some stores will exchange it if there is a problem within 30 days.
