This is a sure sign of a fuel blockage some place !! id start with fuel filter and air filter and then look closely at fuel lines for signs of collapsing when running (CAREFULLY!!!!!) then move on to cleaning and resetting carb jets

remember choke richens fuel/air mix so if it needs choke to run then it's being restricted in fuel supply

SOURCE: husqvarna chain saw oiler

My Husky 36 did this. The oil pump drive gear was stripped and had to be replace. It's located under the flywheel/sprocket so you have to pull that. I couldn't find info on how to do that so had a local shop repair it for $70! Parts are cheap, labor is not.

SOURCE: Cant get clutch cover off new Husqvarna 235e chain saw

Mine did this when nearly brand new. You likely have a nasty jam of oil and sawdust stuck between the chain brake and the flywheel. It can be loosened by either careful prying of the case or precise shots of carb cleaner up in the housing. While you are in there look for a buildup of oil around the chain brake connection to the kickback paddle.

SOURCE: Pull cord on chain saw will not retract.

Most of the rancher models are easy to look at. Take the four screws off that hold the starter cover on.When off have a look to see if the pulley is ok or one of the starter dogs(pawls) is jamed . If dogs ok take the screw out of the centre of pulley and remove it ,check for spring tension. if there is just be carful to leave sring in housing. look at spring if broken or out of shape renew it and rope.check for cracks in pulley. When renewing spring and rope get correct rope length and diameter. don't over tension new spring. hop this helps

SOURCE: Husqvarna chain saw starts and runs for 20 minutes then stops.

two things could be happening.......first is vapor lock......make sure you breather tube is clear and working........next is ....it could have a bad ignition coil on it.....after the coil gets hot the spark can become irratic or just not work any more.....

Hard starting

Starting any chain saw can be a bit finicky. How many hours has the saw done since new ruffle? Over about 10 and the saw would have run in and will need to have the fuel adjusted. What fuel to oil ratio are you running?

Just as a point, you might know this but I only pull the saw over 3-4 times with the choke in. Then try to start with it off.

Chainsaw ran out of gas. Filled tank will not start now. Husqvarna 450 e=series 18"

Those saws are very finicky. First shake the saw very vigorously, as the saw running dry mayy have sucked dirt to the intake screen. Clean the plug and check gap. Prime, choke and pull till it starts. your plug may be foulled, this happens alot when a saw leans out from running out of fuel.

How do I start rental model 96.

Place the saw on full choke with the switch on. Pull the rope until it fires. Place the saw on half choke, and pull again, and it will start running. Half choke should release as soon as you hit the trigger.

I have a husqvarna 142E chainsaw that will not start. I have verified that I have fuel to the cylinder and have spark. I made up new fuel/oil mixture to ensure that was not a problem.

Have you ensured that you are using fresh fuel and not fuel that you may have stored from last season.

Fuel does have a limited life so before you do anything else make sure it's fresh.

My best regards

Saw stops when i give it gas.

  • plugged fuel filter
  • cracked/loose fuel line allowing air (instead of fuel) into the carburetor.
  • poorly fitting fuel cap
  • plugged or disconnected/broken pumper line
