Question about ASUS AI Lifestyle P5N32-E SLI (P5N32-E-SLI-GREEN) Motherboard

ASUS P5N32-SLI Premium mobo w/ WinXP Pro (SP3). System dead

Hi --
My system has been running beautifully for several years. Last Tuesday, I rebooted the computer and when I came back, the system was dead. The power lights (on the motherboard and the chassis) are on, but there is no hard drive activity. Also, there is no POST beep at all. I replace the PSU with a brand-new slightly more powerful one (700W) with no effect. I replace the CPU (Intel C2D 6600) with a brand-new Intel Quad 6600 (both socket 775, both supported by the motherboard) with no effect. I removed the RAM (which should have the system complain at power-up, and still nothing. No monitor display, no hard drive activity, no POST information. I unplugged all internal PCI cards and all external connections, same thing. I cleared the CMOS memory, same thing.
Thoughts?
Thanks in advance --
Dave

Helo, i have updated the bios on asus p532n-e sli premium, and after instalation the sistem won't turn on.pls this is urgent. a nice day

Hi,

Hi,

According to your problem first check the bios update. Check that you have updated the bios properly. Run the motherboard in updated bios, so reset the bios. This may occur for another cause also. So check the electric outlet where the system is being plugged. Make sure that the SMPS is OK and compatible with motherboard. If the SMPS fulfil the minimum requirement of the pre updated motherboard then updated bios may not support. Check that you have installed the SMPS power cable in your motherboard properly. It will help you.

Asus P5n32 Sli Premium

Hi,
There is a couple of things you can do to troubleshoot this.
If there is an on-board VGA (video) port on the back, try that.
Clear the CMOS. On that spec board there should be a coloured plastic jumper next to or near the motherboard battery like this >>>>>

If there is no jumper then remove the power cord from the back and take the motherboard battery out for half an hour then replace and see if you get a post screen.
If it still suffers from the same symptoms then there could be micro fissures between solder points on the motherboard as Intel's tend to run fairly hot.
This means you have to re-float the motherboard and is a last resort repair.
If you need anymore help or advice please post back.

Good luck.

I am an advocate of ASUS boards..rock solid...Vista on the other hand...problems occur out of no where...when problems arise you always have to ask yourself" what has changed"..and work backwords from there.

Hi,
Are you able to enter into the BIOS settings by pressing DEL?
If so, load default settings in the BIOS and try booting up again.

Best wishes,

Boot to safe mode and see if the problem is the same.
Have you checked for viruses and spyware?
Look in Control Panel/Admin Tools/Event Viewer, System and Application for red marks.
Do you have a temp monitor installed?
Have you changed anything in the BIOS? Set to safe defaults.

You can get all the files you need here.
Download and print only the parts of the manual you need or it will be almost a whole stack of paper.
Good luck with this mobo.
I've had nothing but prob;lems with it.
I'm going back to my ecs that I know works.
I suggest you search "problems with p5n32-sli".

New Installation P5N32-E SLI

There is also a 4 pin power connector cable for the processor to connect onto the motherboard. Make sure that is plugged in. IF that still doesn't help, disconnect hard drive, video card, cd rom drive and floppy drive and any other pci cards in the system. Try booting it again at least to the bios. See if that helps.
