Question about GE Zoneline AZ38H12DAD Split System Air Conditioner
We just turned our heat on for the first time since we've moved into our aptartment. Not sure how old the unit is or anything, but the heat kicks out a smell. The fan or the cool option does not have this problem. Is this normal? I know most furnaces have a smell the first time you turn on the heat for the year, is this the same with a wall unit?
Yes, It probably has electric secondary heat which will kick it about 4 deg under your set temp. It should smell like burned dust and go away within a days time. If it last longer or smells different you might want to have it investigated for a mouse nest or something.
