Question about HP Photosmart C5580 All-In-One InkJet Printer
You need a OCR (Optical Character Recognition) program to convert your scanned text pages (which are images) to text.
You printer software doesn't include such a program.
There are a number of commercial programs available -- I.R.I.S, ReadIris, Abbyy Fine Reader, Adobe Acrobat (not the free Acrobat Reader), just to mention a few -- and also some free programs (SimpleOCR came first in a Google search).
Also, some computers also come with a limited version of these programs installed. I have an HP that came with a version of Readiris.
