This unit is already change the motherboard and fully charge the battery, if i unplug the battery and plug in again, i have to reset the date and time.

Either battery is not fully charged or battery require replacement. As you said you have already ordered new charger, charge your battery at full level with original charger. If problem persists then battery needs replacement.

My wife's unit has the same issue - tried the firmware update (from Sony's website) and their suggested fix with no luck. Still works as a digital picture frame, but wrong date and stuck time kind of disappoint.

FYI - Suggested fix for stuck date/time:

Unplug unit.
Remove backup battery.
Leave for 30 seconds.
Plug back in and then put battery back.
Set date and time.

Didn't work for me, but maybe you'll have better luck.

turn off your unit,,then remove CMOS battery...the after 5sec put it back..

i am change the CMOS batterybut after restarting the time and date is not set........pls help the proplem.........

with laptop batteries its recommended that you charge it fully the first time and let it drain completely then charge it fully again and unplug it. you will do damage to your battery if its fully charged while its still plugged in and with all rechargeable batteries they decrease how long they can be used over time.

it has to be the battery contacts, the motherboard is loosing contact with the battery which is why it keeps resetting itself

Check if the battery is already fully charged. If it is, the charger will stop charging when battery is 100% charged.

You can check this by unplugging the charger cord from the laptop. If the battery is not fully charged, plug in the charger cord into the laptop again, start the computer and enter the BIOS. In the BIOS, look to see if you have a "battery check" and start it. This will test the charging and discharging cycles of the battery.

do the hard reset again .. hold the power button down while operating the reset in the back .. keep the power button down for a few seconds .. that should bring up a display "delete all" .. you can choose to do so .. that will be a hard reset .. now if the battery is dead and the charger is not working then nothing will work for you .. you might have a bad charger .. often the end that plugs into the unit develops a broken wire inside the cable ..
the m515 wont charge from the sync cable (shame) it needs the external power adapter .. make sure the connections on the charger and palm are clean .. the power adapter is 5 volts and i think about 1 amp .. )(center pos) if you want to try another adapter .. the tip is rather standard ... also you can get a universal power adapter from radio shack that will work on just about anything .. you just plug in a suitable tip .. the tip for your palm is an "A19" .. the power adapter is "IGO" wall adapter 23-1401 model PSM08VADJ ... that seems to work nicely and it plugs directly in to the palm .. so you can work with it plugged in .. when the charger is working there should be a lightning bolt thru the battery symbol .. it sounds like you already know that .. if the battery has gone open then it may not indicate a charge .. but the unit should still work while on the charger if that is actually working ....

I would agree with what the tech support agent(s) told you. What you are describing sounds like a bad battery. The Insignia® Piliot MP3 players have a one year limited warranty. For service you should take the MP3 player into your local Best Buy™ store with the receipt. The store will be able to assist you in diagnosing the problem and if needed having the item serviced or replaced.
