Question about Brother LS-1217 Mechanical Sewing Machine

1 Answer

Purchased new foot, having a ahrd time getting it on.

I just purchased a blind stitch foot for my Brother LS-1217. I unsrewed the regular presser foot and it came off just fine leaving the shaft part with the hole in it to screw on new part. Went to put on the new one - problem is it is just the foot - no ankle part came in the package. Not sure what to do now. I know it needs that little ankle part with the screw to go on. Tried pulling it off the regular foot, but it wont budge and it looks like it is held firmly in place by a little screw. Really want to use this new foot...help!!!???

What does the blind stitch foot look like????

If you mean a blind hem foot, you can go to www.brother-usa.com and look at their accessory catalog. It is just a presser foot that has an adjustable screw to set for an edge guide. You don't have to have a Brother any low shank blind hem foot will fit. You can order from them, 1-877-276-8437 or any online sewing machine parts place, ie. www.sewingpartsonline.com.

PRESSER FOOT FOR APPLIQUE

According to page 39 of the manual for this machine, you use the regular presser foot that came on the machine.

If it is missing, you can purchase a snap-on foot where sewing machine accessories are sold.

You can download or view the manual (free) at the Brother website.

Appearence of loop and no zigzag stich on ls-2125i brother

The loopy stitching is usually do to threading the machine with the presser foot down.

Raise the presser foot and re-thread or pull about 8" of thread through the needle and see if the loopy stitches go away.

This may also be the issue with the zig-zag stitch.

When the machine is threaded with the presser foot down, the tension is closed and the thread cannot enter as it should for the tension to control the flow of thread to the needle. The thread then feeds too fast and the stitching is distorted.

The underside stitch is a mass of loose thresd

A mass of loose thread on the bottom of the fabric most likely indicates a total loss of upper tension. Remove the upper thread, raise the presser foot and rethread the machine. Make sure that the upper tension knob/dial is around 5. If you still have a problem, let me know what brand and model you have.

Walking Foot for Brother LS-1217

Beckster, it may simply be that the walking foot needs to be tweeked a bit, perhaps screwed in further, or less.
