Question about Goodman Heating & Cooling

1 Answer

Model GSC130481AG, S# 0808548576 The common wire to the compressor rubbed through the wire insulation and melted a hole in the discharge line from the compressor. Upon loosing all of the refrigerant the compressor ran hot a warped the valves. I repaired the leak and replace the compressor and liquid line filter drier. Upon start up the system would take little refrigerant. The suction pressure went into a vacuum with a 115# head pressure. What is wrong here?

This was not a burn out. The compressor ran too hot and warped the valves. I have blown out the evaporator, orifice and lines from the condensing unit to the air handler. Could there be a restriction in the condenser coil? Could something have broken loose from the old compressor? Would this be the manufacture's responsibility?

Yes. Everything has been done text book perfectly. Very thorough. The ONLY thing that I have not done is to isolate the condensing unit and blow through it with nitrogen. The problem here is that i can't blow through the condenser coil effectively with the compressor in the circuit.

You have a restriction in the system. Probably in the TXV or orifice in the A/H.
The burn out sent trash/fragments through the system. I would open the sytem and blow nitrogen through, then pull a deep vacuum.
You may need to install a low side filter/drier. When you open the system change out the high side drier again for sure.

Did you vacuum the system to 500 microns after the repairs were done?

Frost forms on the coolant line from compressor to evap coil. At small foam insulation piece it has a chance to melt then drips on floor

Not good... no way.

That is an old time symptom of an inadequate refrigerant charge. The foam insulation rapidly loses any effectiveness when saturated.

Fact is... refrigerant lines leaving the compressor ought to be too warm to be attracting condensation...

Frost is highly problematic (as is water dripping anywhere inside the house).

Hope that helps!

How to find the hot (Black) wire on power a new samsung fridge power cord since both are black?

First, get a $10 voltage tester. Since both wires are black, it may not matter which way you hook it up--if that is your problem. still, you can find the hot,and common like this:
You'll need a patent ground. If the unit is grounded, just touch one probe to the metal.
with the compressor running, carefully work the sharp tip through the insulation of one wire ( makes a very small hole in the insulation that poses no hazard). If the voltage is consistent with your other hot readings, then that's your hot (110/120). if it reads lower when the compressor is working, then that's your common (white). You should get the greatest difference (voltage drop in common line) right when the unit starts.
or, just call Samsung.

You can't. A harness will melt if it gets enough heat. All you can do is make sure the airflow around the battery is good. This will also help the battery when it is charging. To protect the harness from meltdown through rubbing you can fit heatshrink tubing or Aramid/kevlar tubing to prevent the rubbing from damaging the insulation.

15amp fuse blows on honda shadow vt600

Blown fused happen because of wires rubbing the insulation off and grounding out on the frame usually. A positive and negative could be touching on lights, switches, or relays. It could be a broken positive wire that is almost disconnected. You can trace the wires and see if you can find hot spots that have melted the insulation.

96 dodge intrepid brake lamps do not turn off. already replaced brake lamp switch. lights stay on even after removing fuse. please help

Hmmm... sounds like a power( live line ) melted the insulation and fused together w/ the brake line, thus it powers up your brake light.

Check your rear brake wire harness leading to the front connection main harness., if the harness are covered w/ plastic insulation, cut the insulation and look for a wire that melted and fused together.
If you found the wire, seperate it and put some insulator tape to prevent power line shorting.
The power line usually colored RED.
Hope that helps!

Wires melting together were they hook to the bulkhead fitting going to my compressor

it sounds like the wires came in contact with each other probably the wire insulation wore off with vibration. the wires are forming an arc similar to welding until the arc is terminated by the circuit breaker when it trips. wires need to be replaced make sure all connections starting from the circuit breaker all the way to the compressor are tight you don,t want wires melting and causing a fire it can damage your equipment, your property to say the least..
Best of luck.
