If you have a sat/cable box it may have audio outputs that you can connect to the input of the surround unit or if your tv has an audio uotput it can be connected to the surround unit. The audio outs of the tv may or may not adjust with the tv volume. This will not produce a true surround signal because th tv does not output a true surround signal. But yo can adjust the surround unit to get a nice sound.

SOURCE: the surround sound only plays on dvd not tv

most tv shows will only be broadcast in 2.0 not 5.1 or higher. if you have a converter box, that may also be the problem.

Surround Sound System Settings ---- Correct Time Delay Setting in Multi-channel Audio

A correctly set surround sound system can yield dramatic improvements to your
home theater sound or multi-channel music listening experience. In particular,
a correctly set time delay setting between the different channels is essential
for a realistic and unified surround soundfield.
Luckily, most of today's surround processors make setting the time delays
between the rear and the fronts a matter of a few entries in the setup menu.
Yet having a proper understanding of the principles behind correct time delay
settings is essential for the best results.
In this guide, we explain the principles behind time delay settings in surround
sound and show you how to adjust your surround processor or AV receiver for the
best surround sound field.

Time Delay Setting in Multi-channel Surround Sound Systems

Correct home theater speaker placement and properly balanced sound levels
between the different channels in multi-channel audio, while crucial, are not
enough to sustain a unified soundfield in a surround sound setup. A correctly
set surround sound system requires that sound from all the different speakers
reach the listener at exactly the same instant.
This explains why all fronts, left, right and center channel speakers, should
be set at exactly the same distance from the listening position. At the same
time, in a typical home theater setup, the surround speakers are closer to the
viewer than the fronts.

To compensate for this distance discrepancy, surround sound playback systems
apply a split-second delay to the surround sound channels.

How do u get surround sound out of all the speakers when watchen tv

Most of the time, you will only get surround sound out of all the speakers when the Soure (ie Cable, Satellite etc.) puts out surround sound. The receiver can only give what it gets (unless it has a simulated surround function, in which case it wouldn't be true surround sound). If you can check the info from the source, see if it shows you Dolby 5.1 or DTS as an option. If these aren't available, then you won't get surround sound. Hope this helps!

No sound output from Center and Surround speakers

the only time the center and surround speakers put out sound is when it has a surround sound source such as a dvd etc. and only certain sounds come from them as well.

Kenwood VR6070 speaker/amp problems

unit needs repair. Look at the b speakers. Conect a speaker or two to the B position. If you have no sound than your surrond sound is ok and the unit is bad. Sound comes directly into the b speaker and not threw the surrond system. My 6070 has a cold start up problem. no sound. time to purchase a new one. to costly to repair.

Set up the Panasonic SC-PT450 and followed all the various instructions. Am using the surround sound in conjunction with a Panasonic TV bought at same time (50" plasma) but can't seem to get sound out...

Are you sure you're using a source material that is surround sound? Most TV broadcasts are still only stereo.

Also with surround programmes, the rear speakers are only used for the surround effect so will only make sound when the sound source is supposed to be behind you.
