Yes it can get quite hot, remember there is a compressor running in there.

It sounds like your thermostat is set to low, if there is a fan check it. That can also happen for a while before it quits working if there is a refrigrent leak.

Check the back to see if the compressor is running or just really hot. If it is not running it could be a thermostat issue, but if it is hot and not running, that means your compressor has problems and will need to be replaced.

At that temp I'm sorry to say sounds like the compressor is shot or all the gas has leaked out. A service call is about $100.00 to ring the door bell and then add about $500.00-600.00 for a compressor and or 300.00 if the coil is bad. It might be better to get a new box with a warranty. Hi, could be faulty thermostat, can you check compressor, is compressor running (working), listen to compressor for clicking sound, unplug it(switched off) for about 20 minutes, replug and let it run (work) for another 20 mins. see if temp. drops, what about temp. inside bottle (wine) cooler, is it 98 or colder, more info. could be valuable. check thermostat, check to see if compressor operates, if cooler temp. 98. remove you products, to another cooler, call mechanic.

Try tapping on the thermostat it is probably sticking.
If it comes on then you will need to replace the thermostat.
Check the start relay on the compressor.
Check the fan motor on the compressor is it running?
Clean lint from underneath on the condensing coil.

Likely the humidity sensor has gone bad if display is wrong or the display board itself is bad if no display at all.
