Hey there, the easiest way to figure out what you can do as far as a RAM upgrade is go to www.crucial.com and run their little scanner program. This will tell you what you have and what can go into your computer. You do not necessarily have to buy their RAM, but it is a useful product.

Can i install windows 7 on my acer extenza 5620?

Yes you can, but please note that the laptop has shared video memory so if you will get a low rating index on Windows 7 you will need to upgrade the RAM (it supports up to 4GB) in order to allocate more RAM to the video card.

Can you upgrade this pc to vindow vista or window7

Hello

Yes, this computer's Operating system can definitely be upgraded to either windows vista, or Windows7. Firstly you wil need to remember that you will have to upgrade the ram module to at leas 1GB. 2GB being the maximum for this computer.

Also, i would rather load the 32bit version of the operating system than the 64bit.

Please feel free to let me know if you have any further assistance.

Kind regards
Andrea

Can't find slots to upgrade RAM

here is HPs' complete instructions (with pictures) on how to upgrade your ram-- http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=bph03886&lc=en&dlc=en&cc=us&product=59404&lang=en
keep in mind that if your computer only has two slots and they are already used by your 256MB , that you will have to replace these with larger capacity ram chips.
Regards.

Reg ram upgradation

Each memory slot on the C555NR can support a maximum of 1GB of RAM. There are actually 2 slots, but only one is easily accessible to you. By upgrading both the primary and secondary DIMMs, you could achieve a total of 2GB of memory but you would have to remove the 512mb chip that is already installed and replace it with 1GB (+1GB in the expansion slot as well.)

If you don't plan on taking the computer to a professional to be serviced, you will probably only want to upgrade the memory in the secondary slot located under the memory cover on the underside of the computer. It can handle a 1GB SODIMM.

FYI the memory is:
200 Pin DDR2-533 PC2-4200 SODIMM

Good luck!

Upgrading RAM

Crucial.com has a great scanner that will scan your system and tell you what kind of memory is installed and make suggestions as to compatible pieces. I actually buy from there, but even if you don't their scan tool works really well.
