I860 False Paper Jam Message

I receive a paper jam message every time I try to print on my Canon i860 but there is no paper jam. Printer blinks 3 orange 1 green, which I understand is a paper jam code. How do I clear the paper jam message?

canon i860 paper jam signal occurs but there is no paper jam

I have the same problem, paper jam message and orange and green blinking lights. Removed back door of printer but cannot see where it is jamming. It acts as if the rollers are not grabbing the paper.

Opening the back does not help. I know I have all of the piece of paper out of it, for I have matched the pieces I pulled out. Yet the light keeps blinking and keeps me from printing.

Same problem .... except there is no question of an actual jam. The paper jam warning comes randomly, and when there has been no paper run through the computer since the previous successful printing. I use to be able to clear the warning by shaking the outbound paper rollers .... no more, though.

A "check the back door" approach does not address the real problem.

Check the back of the printer. There should be door at the bottom. Your paper jam could be there.

If this helps you, please rate me. Thanks, Patty

Why do i have a false jam reading?

I understand that you're receiving what you believe to be a 'false' paper jam on your HP Photosmart C6280 All-in-One Printer. I would like to work with you today with resolving this issue. Paper jams can be real or false. The product might report a paper jam even when there is no jammed paper. A false paper jam may also be the result of having a bad paper jam at a point in time and that bad jam causing a hardware issue to the paper sensor or rollers. I am going to provide you with some additional troubleshooting steps that apply to both real and false paper jams. You did state that you already checked the paper pathway inside the printer and failed to find any evidence of paper being stuck, but please run the step-by-step troubleshooting below, even if you have already run some of the steps.

Here are the steps for clearing the path:

When powering up printer receive message "press power then clear paper jam" I cannot find any paper jammed in the printer

Power your printer off and unplug it. Try manually feeding a sheet of heavy weight paper (cardstock) through the paper path to help push out any torn scraps of paper left from a previous jam, or any staples or paper clips etc that may have fallen into the paper path. You may need to do this multiple times. You can also try blowing in canned air to remove and paper dust that might be laying on the sensors causing a false jam message. Good luck!

I865 flashing 3 times

That's a "paper jam" error that can be fixed by removing all paper and pressing the resume/cancel button. Then replace the paper in the feed chute.
The printer can straighten out a crooked feed to a very limited degree. The photo feeder attachment can interfere with a really full 8x11 feed. The i860 is very susceptible to overfilling the 8 1/2 x11 feeder without notice until you try to print. I usually remove the photo feeder until I need to print photos, and keep the regular paper feeder no more than 3/4 full. I pull out the regular paper when printing photos.

Paper jam error message

I had the same problem, and found that the sheet feeder mechanism was intermittent. The problem seems to be that the lubricating grease inside the mechanism.(white nylon round thing with gears on it) becomes too slippery with age, and stops picking up the activating arm which allows the cam unit to move to kick the top sheet of paper into the rubber feed wheel.
The repair was extremely difficult because it involved taking most of the printer apart to get to the ink pump/sheet feeder mechanism.(white nylon round thing with gears on it). And then I tried quite a few lubricants (including no lubricant at all) but none of these worked reliably. Finally I tried a dab of automotive wheel bearing grease (it feels like glue), and this worked perfectly. I have had no more paper jam errors and no miss-feeds in about 7months of everyday use.

HP Laserjet 1020: False paper jam

Hp false paper jam error message is displayed by the printer when paper is jammed in one or more locations. In such a case, users are recommended to remove the jammed paper from the specified location. The entire paper path must be checked for any pieces of paper. To stop the message, open and close the top most cover of the printer. Lastly, verify the flags and the sensors. If the problem persists, the cause of the error message could be a broken sensor or sensor lever.
