Question about Troy-Bilt® Briggs and Stratton Chipper
I Have a MTB chipper shredder, model 24A-464B062 (sometime between 2000 and 2002), which appears to be a Lowes model. In my case, I left the shredded blade on and backed off the main bolt holding on the impeller so that about 1/4 of an inch of threads were showing. I then attached my harbor freight automotive pulley puller (Pittsburgh - item#66868), with its shaft pushing on the head of the main bolt and its arms hooked onto the shredder blade. I then torqued the puller hard until the shredder blade was bending pretty good. The impeller did not come off. I then used a cold chisel and a hammer to pound around the center cylinder of the impeller (there are two small spots where this can be reached). Still the impeller did not come off. I then used my plumbing torch (with MAPP gas), to heat up the center of the impeller, for about 5 minutes. Still the impeller did not come off. So I returned to the cold chisel and hammer, and after a few hits, the impeller popped loose. I removed the automotive pulley puller (be careful, it is hot), and then the main bolt, and the impeller came right off. After inspection, I noticed that there is no key and that the impeller is attached by a press fit taper. So it looks like what I did is most likely what everybody else would have to do for my model.

There should be a set screw in the impeller holding it on the shaft.take the set screw out.then the impeller should come off.if it doesn't come off easily you need to heat the hub that the set screw was in.this expands the metal so that the impeller will come off..........there is no easy way to do this job........hope this helps, let me know..................
