If you have a warranty I would definitely send it back to the manufacturer. Most companies will pay for shipping for warranty repairs as well. What sounds like has happened happens a lot. The plug the jack plugs into (inside the Mp3 player) gets a cold soldier joint or the jack on the ear buds gets caught on something one to many times and breaks a soldier joint loose.
I usually open the media players and reheat the soldier joints myself. If you have already tried a different pair of ear buds it is almost certainly the jack inside the MP3.
To get the basics out of the way, is the volume turned up and not muted at all... if it's turned up then try another pair of headphones that you know work in something else or test these headphones in something else...( cd player, radio etc.) use a pair that you know work to retest your mp3. plug them in, turn it on and play a song the gently wiggle the end plugged into the player back and forth. If you hear a crackling or snippets of song, then it's probably the jack inside the player....try these things and get back. PS. post the make and model of your player, it helps with problem identification
Take it apart. Just google how to do it, i found a post with pictures and took mine apart without much trouble (just had to buy a $5 small screwdriver kit at radioshack). the switch for the lock is actually a metal piece that is moved by that **** piece of plastic.
You can move the switch easily to where you want it and put the plastic piece in the correct position.
I love mine. I use it almost on a daily basis. I like how I can set different SD cards with different genres, and its so easy to put songs on & off with the media card slot on my pc, I just plug in and drag away. Only thing that would make it better is a screen to view songs
