Water fills Cycle won't start

The water will fill but then then the cycle won't start. Thought it was a problem with the sensor on the lid, by dropping the lid then it would continue the cycle. Now I have to practically slam the lid after it is filled with water, then it will continue. What needs to replace? Is there a sensor?

You are correct about the problem being with the lid switch. But I think it also involves the metal arm from the lid to the switch. I don't think the little arm thing was in place enough to fit into the lid switch, to turn it on. So I modified the lid switch, by taping it down so the switch is always on.
I think the design of that was poorly thought out. I remember an old washing machine that the lid had a piece of plastic that would probe a switch when the lid was down. Now, that is a very simple design and it worked all the time. Some machines just try to get to fancy I guess.

Often the lid switch needs replacement. I can become cracked from the lid being dropped.

Kenmore Model 21082000 won't fill during wash cycle

Try checking the lid switch. Sometimes the switch goes bad or the stem breakes and when the lid shuts it will not activate the switch. Usually located on the right side of the dryer. When the lid closes it will allow water to.fill. Washers are easy to fix and the part is cheap. Get it from amazon dont pay the crazy price your dealer wants. Trust me, i just fixed my mothers...

Admiral ATW4475VQD water won't fill

Does the lid switch work? With the lid closed, put the unit to spin cycle. If it spins, the switch is good and you will need to replace the water inlet valve.
Here is the switch if you need it.
Here is the water valve if you should need it.

Whirlpool Sm8525079 Rev fills up with water, but won't agitate.

Your lid switch has a fault, Sometimes the switch can bend which means that it won't always operate.

Maytag_lse7804ace: washer won't fill with water. If I fill it by hand, the cycle works fine (until it gets to the rinse cycle, when it won't fill again).

Hello John,
The most probable reason the washer is not filling is because of a blown fuse that is part of the lid switch asm. By UNPLUGGING THE WASHER and removing the 2 INNER screws on the the control panel and the control panel can be rotated down to see the fuse in the lid switch asm. Here is where the fuse is on the switch asm. its circled in red 11_4_2011_1_39_54_am.jpg

Water fills in, but wash cycle won't start. spin cycle works, changed motor still won't work

Its either in the lid switch or timer. Examine the lid switch. Try starting the wash cycle and press in on lid switch to make sure it activates. If the lid switch is good and you dont hear the motor trying to activate during wash than its in the timer. Does the timer advance? Please comment me back If you need further assistance.

Agitator starts at begining of cycle before washer is full

Please be carful as running the agitator without enough water will overheat and kick out the motor, however it should be ok when it resets itself.
Yes, the machine should stop agitating when you lift the lid so this too is part of the problem.
After looking at the print I can only suggest that the cam contacts in the timer ( contacts 12 and 14) that start the motor are burned and stuck together.
