SOURCE: no suction from hayward variflow pro series sand filter

Try these tips. I am guessing that one of these is the reason that your pool filter is not working properly. If you try these suggestions and they don't work, let me know and I will trouble shoot with you again.
1. Check skimmer and pump strainer baskets for debris.
2. Check for restrictions in intake and discharge lines.
3. Check for air leak in intake line (indicated by bubbles returning to pool.
4. Backwash your filter.
5. Be sure Vari-Flo valve is set on “Filter” position.

Once in awhile my pump will start returning the water at a very high pressure on and off like if its clogged making my pool shake very bad. Is there a solution to my problem?

sounds as if your getting an high back pressure from your sand filter , more often back flushes will help this from happening , also installing a prefilter on suction hose will keep large debris from entering sand filter and blinding it off , this pre filter can be purchased or made from a simple pair of used ladys stocking , but all will need to be checked often for clogging off

No pressure on gauge on filter pump

The same thing happened to me. So frustrating! I guess the pump that comes with the intex pool is not strong enough to do this. At least that is what I was told. So I just ended up sending that vaccum back and getting a catfish vaccum. Works great!

Sand Filter Pump

sounds as if you either have a clogged skimmer or a colasped hose , for this type stuff to happen

New intex above ground pool sand filter has no way to vacuum it

i do believe that intex sells a kit to vac the pool ,it includes a plastic scoop that fits in skimmer to go to bottom vac wand

me i saw a photo of kit and made one out of an old vinegar container i cut the bottom off of and a length of old hose from a wet /dry vac and i use that to run around bottom to suck up solids (gotta fill hose first before connecting it )

I have no suction at the skimmer.

maybe your pump has lost it's prime? prime the pump with it OFF and use a garden hose connected to house supply , remove hose and turn pump ON you should see dishcharge shoot out some bubbles at first then they should dissapate in -60 seconds , if bubbles continue, you have a suction side leak in maybe a filter lid or hose connection this will make the filter loose its prime after every off cycle
