We had this problem almost 4 yrs ago. It was the damper assembly which is a common problem w/ GEs. A damper is a door flap that opens and closes between the fridge and freezer that allows cold air into the fridge to regulate the temperature. Eventually, it breaks, allowing in too much cold air into the fridge, thus making both sides a freezer! Fixya's link that helped me is this one, which is very helpful: http://fixitnow.com/wp/2007/12/06/ge-side-by-side-refrigerator-freezing-the-beer/. You also might need to enter a diagnostic code when you replace it. Check this out also:
http://fixitnow.com/wp/2009/10/02/activating-self-diagnostic-mode-in-a-ge-arctica-refrigerator/. Don't let the description of the fridge as a GE Arctica mislead you. These are different models, but internally are the same components.

SOURCE: Water is pooling under the veg/fruit drawers..cant

Your freezer goes through a defrost cycle and drains the melted ice ,somewhere the drain is clogged or iced up .Look for a little hole or hose coming into drain pan underneath and trace up.Might have to take back off.

Wat temp is for fridge and freezer to be on plz

What are your recommended temperatures for the fridge-freezers? The default and recommended temperatures for our fridge-freezers are as follows:-

4?c for the fridge compartment, 5?c specifically for the fruit and veg compartment, and -20?c for the freezer.
The ideal temperature setting for a refrigerator is 3?C and for a freezer it's -18?C. The only exceptions are fridge-freezers in the RB*** range, for which we recommend -19°C (as -18?C isn't an available option for these models).

Gallery. How do I lower the temp in food section?

Should be 2 thermostats in the unit in back or on side. One for freezer & one for fridge. Turn it down to preference.

Water in the fruit and vegetable draweres

You might have the frig. temperature set too low. Set it at 38 deg. check actual temp. with gage. What happens is ice builds up in the drain tube that runs down to the bottom when the fridge defrosts therefore causing water to run into the veg. drawers. Ice buildup is preventing the water from running out at the bottom where it should. Just raise your fridge temperature a little and the problem should go away. Hope this helps.

Fruits & Veggies are freezing in both lower frig compartments

Good day,
This problem appears in spades this time of year, every year.
The problem becomes more severe when the temperatures in the house cools down and is made even worse if the usage of the machine becomes lighter.

It occurs when the machine is off, not on.
There is an open vent, near the bottom, between the freezer compartment and the fresh food compartment. This opening or vent is necessary when the machine is running, so that the air pumped into the top of the fresh food section, can return to the freezer compartment. This is by design.
Now,
When the machine is off, the zero degree air from the freezer compartment. can drift into the fresh food compartmnet and drop the temps near the bottom to below freezing.
Off time increases substantialy at this time of year.
Some have even recommended turning the controls colder to offset the problem, but I've no proof it works well, or even a little.
SXS and top freezer models experience it more than bottom freezer models.

Refridgerator problem

Not sure about your model, but most of these style side by side refridgerators use the cold air from the freezer to cool the refridgerator. Sounds like your "flapper" valve is broken. At the top left in the refridgerator there should be plastic shroud. Remove it and your flapper valve should be under it. You will most likely find the flap broken off of it. You may have success using epoxy to glue it or you may have to replace the valve assembly.
Good luck.

Bottom vegetable/fruit drawer freezing fruit

to the left of the bottom drawer is a veg/meat slide switch.make sure it is all the way on veg.if it is on meat,it opens a small doorway to the freezer and lets the cold air in and will freeze the food in the bottom drawer.in some cases, you will need to remove the drawer and shelf and then take apart the doorway.ball up some putty and jam it it the hole to completely seal it off
