SOURCE: i960 won't print despite new print head
Hi,
Method 1:
It appears that the internal print head ports were clogged with ink.
Try removing the print head and washing it in alcohol- when I did this
i had clumps of congealed ink coming out of the tiny ports. The print
head has two small screws underneath that I also removed and cleaned
the ports inside by use of a syringe and alcohol. After I put the print
head back together, dried it and ran an auto alignment - it all seems
good now.
Method 2:
If your cartridge has been sitting outside for more than a couple of
days, it is very likely that your print-heads may be clogged.
Goodluck,
Please don't forget to rate me as fixya

The print driver might not be sending the correct color profile for photo paper. Check that your selection of the paper type "sticks", that is, that it doesn't revert to plain paper when you click on the print button.
If the print dialog is not working properly, then please get in touch with Canon's tech support to resolve this.

Your problem is the print head. You can buy one from Canon for about $95, or find them new from dealers on Ebay for $60 to $70. For a less expensive fix, try to remove the print head and clean it. (You don't need any tools, just remove the ink tanks and pull the print head forward and out. Over time, the receivers tend to get dry & crusted ink on them. Note that the inks used are fast drying inks to keep your pictures, etc. from smudging after you print them. Try not to use solvent. I use q-tips and hot water, then dry using another q-tip. If this does not work, there are commercial cleaning kits available for about $10. Short of that, your choice is to replace the print head or the printer itself. My i960 prints such good quality color prints and normal color printing, that I would fix it rather than replace the printer. I hope the easy cleaning does it for you!

Here is a link to the updated drivers for Vista. You will see in the first section where you can select your operating system (OS). Click the down arrow and select Vista. Now in the box called "Drivers" click on the red .exe file. It will display a new page. Scroll down to the bottom and click on the "I agree" Button. This will start the download process. Click Run, wait for it to download and click run again. This will start the install process. This should fix your problems.
