Question about White Sewing 2037 Mechanical Sewing Machine
Older machines use a cam. You can take the top off and look at the arm as you move the needle arm back and forth manually. Sometimes the grease will get hard and wont allow the arm to go back and forth. You can clean out the old grease and replace it with new. Sometimes a hair dryer can help melt the old grease out of tight spots.

Use white lithium grease on the gears, and sewing machine oil on the other ... or broken, get a replacement from your sewing machine supplier
