Outgoing memory is full

press

Function
7
monitor key slowly 4 times
* star key
6
scroll down to ALL JOB CLEAR
set
wait for a reboot, about 2 mins.

Your fax machine most likely is not finding a dial- tone, so faxes are piling up in memory and are never being transmitted.

After the reboot, press the monitor key once and listen for the dial-tone.

When trying to send a fax, the fax didn't go through, could it be that i am doing something wrong, or possibly a problem on the recieving end?

Could be either, make sure you are set up for the proper dialing mode, either tone or pulse dialing, and check your sent fax report for the error code created when the faxes don't go thru, and let me know what the error # is.

Fax machine won't send or recieve faxes

press the "on hook" dial key. this should let you hear a dial tone. If you don't hear a dial tone, then it is probably the phone line and not the machine. You may have to call your telephone company.

Sending fax error message "low memory"

Try reading these:

General fax problems
Issue Cause Solution The document stops feeding in the middle of faxing. The maximum length of a page that can be loaded is 381 mm (15 inches). Faxing of a longer page stops at 381 mm (15 inches). If no jam exists and less than one minute has elapsed, wait a moment before press Cancel . If a jam exists, remove the media. If the item is too small, it can jam inside the automatic document feeder (ADF).

(HP LaserJet 3015 all-in-one) The minimum paper size for the ADF is 74 x 105 mm (2.9 x 4 inches).

(HP LaserJet 3030 all-in-one and HP LaserJet 3380 all-in-one) The minimum page size for the ADF is 127 x 127 mm (5 x 5 inches). If a jam exists, remove the media. The fax activity logs or fax call reports are printing at inappropriate times. The fax activity log or fax call reports settings are not correct. Print a configuration report and check when the reports print. Set the appropriate log or report printing times through the control panel or the HP Toolbox. The volume for sounds that the device emits is too loud or too soft. The volume setting needs to be adjusted. Set the appropriate sound volume settings through the control panel. Fax send troubleshooting Use the information in the following table to solve problems that might occur when sending faxes: Issue Cause Solution Faxes stop during sending. The fax machine to which the fax is being sent might be malfunctioning. Try sending to another fax machine. The telephone might not be working. Do one of the following:
  • Turn up the volume on the device, and then press Fax/Send on the control panel. If a dial tone is heard, the telephone line is working.
  • Disconnect the device from the jack in the wall, and then connect a telephone to the jack. Try to make a telephone call to make sure that the telephone line is working.
A communication error might be interrupting the fax job. Change the redial-on-communication-error setting to On.

See the electronic User Guide on the CD-ROM that shipped with the product. The device is receiving faxes but is not sending them. If the device is on a PBX system, the PBX system might be generating a dial tone that the device cannot detect. Disable the detect-dial-tone setting.

See the electronic User Guide on the CD-ROM that shipped with the product. A poor telephone connection might exist. Try again later. The fax machine to which the unit is sending to might be malfunctioning. Try sending to another fax machine. The telephone line might not be working. Do one of the following:
  • Turn up the volume on the device, and then press Fax/Send on the control panel. If a dial tone is heard, the telephone line is working.

Outgoing fax calls continue to be dialed. The device automatically redials a fax number if the redial options are set to On. Press Cancel to stop the redials while the device is dialing.

To cancel a pending fax job, see "Canceling a fax job" in the electronic Users' Guide on the product CD-ROM.

See "Changing the redial settings" in the electronic Users' Guide on the product CD-ROM. Faxes that are sent are not arriving at the receiving fax machine. The receiving fax machine might be off or might have an error condition, such as being out of paper. Call the recipient to make sure that the fax machine is on and ready to receive faxes. The originals might be incorrectly loaded. Make sure that the original documents are correctly loaded into the automatic document feeder (ADF) input tray or flatbed scanner (not available with the HP LaserJet 3015 all-in-one). A fax might be in memory because it is waiting to redial a busy number, other jobs that are ahead of it are waiting to be sent, or the fax is set up for a delayed send. If a fax job is in memory for any of these reasons, an entry for the job appears in the fax log. Print a fax activity log and check the Status column for jobs that show a Pending designation. All of the numbers of a long fax number cannot be dialed. The maximum number of digits of characters that can be entered into a fax number is 50. Try manually dialing the fax number. Faxes that are sent include a block of gray shading at the end of each page. The original may be on the flatbed scanner (HP LaserJet 3030 all-in-one and HP LaserJet 3380 all-in-one only), with the glass-fax size set incorrectly. Make sure the setting is correct. See "Changing the default glass-size setting" in the electronic Users' Guide on the product CD-ROM. Faxes that are sent have data missing from the end of each page. Before you begin

To pinpoint the cause of the issue, please record answers to the following questions:

Can a fax be sent or received?
Can a fax be sent, but not received?
Has the fax function ever worked in the past?

Any error messages may also help to narrow down the cause of the issues.

Print out the following:

- a settings list to view the current fax settings
- a receive log if there are issues receiving faxes
- a send log if there are issues sending faxes
- an activity log if faxes cannot be sent or received.
Initial checks
If the fax option has worked in the past and does not do so now, check that the same connection is being used and that it still works.
Check to see if any configuration settings have been changed that could have affected the fax settings.

Faxes cannot be sent/received:
If you are using a digital line, you need an analog card, an ISDN adapter, or an ADSL filter in order to send faxes.
If a PBX is being used, an ISDN Adapter/ADSL filter will not be used as these are supplied within the system. (A PBX is normally used within a company to share a small number of public lines among a large number of private ones to save on cost.) For instructions on configuring the X6100 Series machine with a PBX, see How and When to Use the PBX Option.
Check the phone line (without the printer):
Test the line by connecting a phone directly into the phone port.
Check for a dialing tone.
If you cannot hear a dialing tone, try another phone cable. Once you can hear a dialing tone, you know that the phone port is live and working.
Make sure the RJ11 cable is not damaged.
Check that the printer is accessing the dialing tone correctly:
Press the Options button on the operator panel five times until ON HOOK DIAL is displayed.
Press Select. You should hear a dialing tone.
If you can't hear a dial tone, make sure that the speaker volume is set to High. (Go to Fax, press Options eight times until SPEAKER VOLUME is displayed, then use the plus or minus buttons to change the setting to HIGH. Press Select.)
If there is still no dial tone, unplug the power cable and the phone lead, then plug them back in and try again.

Faxes can be sent but not received:
Connect the Lexmark All-in-One directly to the phone port. IMPORTANT: Do NOT connect any phones to the EXT port.
Make sure the Fax receive mode is set to answer the fax after 3 rings. (Press the Fax button on the operator panel and then press Options three times until ANSWER FAX WHEN is displayed. Change the settings using the - or + buttons as appropriate.)

Faxes can be received but not sent:
Make sure that Country Code is set correctly:
Press the Fax button on the operator panel and then press Options 15 times until Advanced is displayed.
Press Select.
Press Options 13 times and then press the + or - button until the right country is displayed.
Press Select.

IMPORTANT! These tests must be carried out with NO EXTENSIONS, i.e. phones or answering machines, connected to the EXT port on the All-In-One.

The machine is probably set to "manual receive." Check the receive mode. In "Manual" mode the machine will ring until the start" button is pressed. Fax mode will allow the machine to receive faxes as will the "Auto" mode which will allow both faxes and telephone calls automatically.
