Question about Panasonic SDR-H40 HDD Camcorder

2 Answers

I am trying to get to grips with VideoCam Suite 1.0. Is it possible to edit a playlist, apart from deleting scenes?. For instance I want to improve a previously saved playlist by splitting scenes to delete parts of them. It seems to me that I can only start again with all my original scenes and repeat all the editing operations which I made previously - this is hopeless!

So are you telling me that it is impossible to revise an existing playlist, using Videocamsuite 1.00 ?,

  • davidhodgson Jun 26, 2009

OK so how do I do it, since the "Edit scenes" button only appears when the "Video" tab is clicked on, and is not present when the "Playlist" tab is clicked on?

  • davidhodgson Jun 26, 2009

That pdf is the "Help" pages included with Videocamsuite 1.00.

I have read these and they don't help.

    OK, Igive up!

After reading other forums, I regret buying this camera.

Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
Best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of.(from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones)
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
Goodluck!

I have been using the Panasonic VideoCam Suite 3.0 to edit my videos from the Panasonic SDR-H85 camcorder. I am a complete novice at editing and I want to merge some scenes to make one video to upload...

Working with software can often be a royal PIA - the manuals often leave much to be desired. Just keep playing with it till you discover for yourself how the ****** program works.

I have the videocam suite 2.0 for my new panasonic , add music?

NO, you need to re-master the Video, and then save as say in an MPEG4 format, then using a Movie making software, edit the "Movie" and "Add" the sound tracks etc. You could either save it to a Memory stick, or stream it to the PC, via, link, and save it. Then do as related above.

Can't save individual scenes as separate mpg files

Instead of using the camera suite... download your video from your camcorder directly to your PC in a folder (video's). there you will see each individual file (scene) that you took that day instead of one large scene. Then you can download/edit whatever scene you want into movie maker or just copy a sene right to a dvd

Trying to install videocam suite 1.0 on xp home edition

Try right clicking on the installation .exe and clicking Properties. There might be a tab that says Compatibility. Click that and choose XP or XP/SP2 from the list and press apply.
try running the install now..

Hope this helps

PS Here's the updater file for Videocam Suite too, which will be handy if you do manage to get it installed...

Too many files to handle

On the camcorder there is a function that allows you to create a play-list. This play-list group your recording into one file allowing for continuous playback (BUT... the original files cannot be deleted or the playlist will be deleted as well) burn a dvd from the playlist. Automatic grouping doesn't happen automatically on 20003-2008 JVC model camcorders. You would have to do this after you have finished you recordings. Another option is while using the software that comes with the camcorder this allows you to import what files you what to save and group it that way by the date. There is no need to edit if you don't want to.

PANASONIC SDR-H40P (Write Proctetion)

I had the same problem while trying to delete video off of the camera's hard drive using the VideoCam Suite software. I never could figure out how to do it using the software. However, you can delete scenes from the hard disk directly in the camcorder using the menu. For instructions, see page 59 of the manual for this camcorder at http://service.us.panasonic.com/OPERMANPDF/SDRH40P-MUL.PDF Good luck!
