Question about Dyson Filter DC7
Posted by Anonymous on
The only filter you can clean is in the compartment beside the dust bin, push in on the release catch to pull out the filter holder. This filter should be replaced occasionally. There is an exhaust filter under the cover the dust bin sits on. This filter should also be replaced occasionally.

Spray some sillicone spray or furniture polish spray at the bottom where the handle adjuster slider can be seen by tipping the cleaner forward. Its usually a plastic bar that should slide. It can become dirty over time or just need lubrication.

Other than the fuse in the plug, there is no fuse on a DC07.
However, the motor does have a built in over-current trip to protect itself (and you if it seriously overheated and caught fire). This normally automatically resets itself, however if the motor has just about had it, the moment it is switched on, it just trips again.
It cannot be reset manually.
The primary cause of motors overheating is that the filters are not cleaned or replaced frequently enough. Dont be fooled by Dyson's "lifetime filters". They need to be regularly cleaned and replaced when necessary.
Replacement motors are available on eBay for about £25, however replacing one requires good DIY skills and tools.
Have a look at www.dysonmedic.com and see if you feel you can tackle it yourself. If not, take it to a repair shop or call the Dyson helpline.
