Question about Vivitar DVR 530 Flash Media Camcorder

Camera won't come on with new SD card inserted.

We are trying to use a 8.0 GB SD card and the camera will not turn on with the card inserted. If you turn on the camera w/o the card inserted and once it comes up you insert the card it shows there isn't a card inserted on the screen. Do we have to install programs on the new card for it to work?

I checked this and the tag is in the unlocked position. Someone else said that an SD card is an SD card and the capacity shouldn't be a problem but obviously it is. Thanks for your input.

If you check the specs, it wont work with anything bigger than a 2 gig SD card. I had the same problem.

Perhaps your card is Locked...there should be a white tab on the side of it. check to see if it is in the locked position.

Normally, you can only insert an SD card one way. Try a different SD card or check to see if the SD card you're using has the "write protect" switch on. If that's not the issue try formatting the card in your PC and then format it in the camera.

Why won't my camera won't read the sd card I'm using?

8 gB is SDHC. Try less than 4 gB maybe even 256 mB to see if it will read those cards. But lately, all stores only sell HC cards. Try ebay, and they may charge an arm and a leg for old cards?

Apparently, you have pics on the camera's internal memory. Your card won't work until those pics are gone. Here's how...with no card in the camera, go into the menu and find "format" and follow the on-screen instructions to erase the internal memory. Then, insert your card and it should work.

When I insert the new memory card in my finepix F45fd camera, all I get is CARD ERROR,this is a brand new 8 GB SDHC I bought today,I tried to format it but it is still the same. What am I doing...

The F45FD uses xD and SD cards. While SDHC cards will fit into the slot, they are electronically incompatible and will not work. SD cards top out at 2GB.

When pictures are taken they are being stored on the camera. They do not go to the SD card.

You need to get rid of the pictures in the internal memory. If you want to save any of them, go into the menu and find "copy". You will find the option to copy them to a memory card. Then, with no card in the camera, go into the menu and find "format"....follow the on-screen instructions to erase the internal memory. Then your card should work properly.

There are no 8GB SD cards. Cards this size are SDHC (High Capacity). SD and SDHC cards fit the same slots, but many cameras won't work with the SDHC cards. SDHC is not backwards compatible.

Same problem but with a different camera. Turns out, these cameras are very... may I emphasize very... picky as to which cards to use. Try other off-brands and you'll be surprised as to what it takes.
