Question about Sharp DV-SR45U DVD Recorder
I have a SHARP DV-SR45UC DVD player. Somehow the progressive scan mode got turned on and now I can't see any picture. Does anyone know how to turn the progressive scan feature off?

This solution will also work for GoldStar DVR1000! make sure no DVD or tapes are in the player press and hold stop button and it releases you from Progressive scan mode. After searching the web for hours for this model got desperate and was trying fixes for other brands and models, this one worked. Thanks koolanit

SOURCE: Sharp DVD disc error
I've found out that the recording speed is important for this model. The speed on the dvd must be 4x or less. If your using an 8x or 16x it will not work. Hope this helps.
Maybe you can help me. I'm looking for the 4 digit code that goes into the remote to make it compatible. I think it's in the operators manual, which I no longer have. If you can find this number I would really appreciate it.

Progessive scan DVD
Read the following :-----
Once the setting for progressive scan output is entered, an image will only be visible on a progressive scan compatible Tv. if youset it in error, you must reset the unit. Pointing the remote at the player, press the STOP key tostop any disc that is playing. Next, press the STOP key again and hold it for 5 seconds before releasing it. The video output will be restored to the standard setting, and a picture will once again be visible on analoge TV

Page 18 of the operating manual cites this, to reset to default viewing mode:
1) Remove any disc from the unit and close the disc
tray. See that “dISC” is displayed on the display
2) Press STOP and hold it for more then five
seconds before releasing it. The video output will be
restored to the standard setting and a picture will
once again be visible on a conventional analog TV or
If that doesn't work, please let me know.
