need just a little help here. console is open. there is a white harness that I have access to both ends of. it has green, white and black wires going into male ends. The female side of the harness has 3 black wires going in.

There is also a second white harness which plugs down into the main body of the machine.

So which ends am I connecting on which harness?

    Thank you for your patience.

I also have a meter here and can test continuity or voltage.

I am guessing you are guiding me to a timer that needs replacing? But this is the first time I have taken something like this on and am not as clear of what I am looking at.

so I just metered and know the harness I have access to both ends of is the power and it is at line voltage (~122). I am figuring you want me to take the timer or whatever part out of line and test without it, but I am not clear.

The other white harness going into the main body of the machine has red, green, gray. Am I connecting the red and gray which are on the outside of that connector?

many machine spin a full tub as they are pumping the water out
this helps to even out the washing load and reduce the unbalance situation
when the water is removed , the machine progresses the program to a high speed spin
call a technician as there may be a problem in the program board

Kenmore series 70 fills with water on rise cycle but stops halfway throught then starts agian and finishes is this normal

If this has always stopped during the rinse cycle, most likely it's the "cool down" part of the rinse cycle.

See the following Sears site for manuals. Enter your model number and you should be able to download the proper manual for your washer.

Kenmore 70 series Washer will not drain and spin

You have a bad lid switch . Try inserting something into the hole on the top and see if that starts the machine in drain/spin . If not , still bad lid switch . If so , tells you still bad lid switch .
