I've got a 2002 Buick LaSabre. Firewall looks melted..car gets hot on short run. I do have small leak brake fluid. Could that be the problem?.

That would not cause the engine to get overheated. It may be too late to save your engine, but check if you have coolant loss and brown sludge on the oil dipstick, or if under the oil fill cap there is a milky brown substance. This is evidence of coolant getting into the oil. This engine in LeSabres has a common problem of intake manifold gasket failure, leading to loss of coolant that winds up in the cylinders and into the oil. If not driven much or if the engine did not get too hot, the cylinder heads and head gaskets may not have been ruined, but if overheated badly, the engine may be a total loss.

The intake on the engine is two parts: an upper intake manifold that is plastic (and just waiting to fail-many owners have had to replace this) and an aluminum lower intake manifold. The gaskets under the lower manifold are the ones that develop leaks. Because GM used inferior factory gaskets (also made of plastic) as a cost-cutting measure. They took a very good engine, well known for durability, and shaved costs with inferior gasket material-go figure.

Door handle broke

can you open from the inside, its the only way you going to get to sort this, failing that you may need to get a new door card and rip the one off the door at the top corner near to the lock latch and split the plastic and pull the door pin inside to open then take the door card off. sometimes you can do it with out braking the door card but would not say it will not brake. inside there is a plastic clip that the handle go's on then another bar to the lock. this is designed to snap if some one trys to open the door with force.failing that the handle part can snap where the bar fits to it. that you would need to change the handle.

Wiper motor might be wore out and becoming to hot. Next time feel near it and check if its hot. DON'T touch it, just reach close enough to check.

Two year old salt system. Went to manually turn on pump/sweep and found it not working. Upon inspection, found the bottom plastic portion of the timer mechanism has melted and there is a smell of...

T104 is 240Volt heavy-duty timer rated for 40amps.
Open following link to identify timer and correct wiring:
http://waterheatertimer.org/How-to-wire-T104-Intermatic-timer.html

1) Since fire occurred at screw terminals, then wiring is best suspect, and not timer.
The timer clock motor consumes 3 watts of power and does not get hot, and is not located near the screw terminals where melting occurred.
The switch connections are mechanical and are also not located near the screw terminals.

2) Turn off power, remove plastic cover, take photo of wiring.
Post photo of wiring on Flickr, and then add a comment with link to photo.
Also include amp rating of circuit breaker, and amp rating of salt system.

3) To confirm cause of timer failure, timer can be sent to Intermatic:
Intermatic would also want to see a photo of wiring.

815-675-7000

4) If wiring area is overheated, possible causes can include too much amp draw or loose wiring.
For example, if stranded wire and copper wire are under same terminal plate. Or two different gauge wires are under same terminal plate.
When electricity travels along copper wire, the wire is heated. If terminal is not screwed down tight, or wiring under the screw plate becomes loose from heating-and-cooling of wires, or different types of wire under same plate, then the loose wire begins to arc and cause melting and burning.
Other causes can be undersized wire, nearby lightning strike.
Several factors including loose wire can combine together and cause problem.

5) Fire safety:
The timer is enclosed inside a box to prevent overheating occurrences from causing a fire.
The closed box starved the fire of oxygen, but the heat melted plastic parts.
This is why timer box covers should always be kept closed, and why circuit breaker boxes are covered with heavy steel cover and door, and why each switch and outlet has a cover, and why all covers should be kept screwed down tight. No electrical connection should be open to air.

6) Take a moment and rate answer:
And take advantage of fixya expert assistance live.
For a price, expert works with you while you work on timer or any do-it-yourself project.
Fixya is always less expensive than a service call.

Unit overheating

I had this same problem. It got to the point where mechanisms inside the shaft actually melted. I took it to a repair shop where they were able to fix the problem, or so I thought. A little while later the entire shaft separated from the handle one day while I was trimming. Upon investigation, two small pieces of plastic on the inside of the handle are what held the shaft and handle together. The overheating problem melted these plastic pieces off. I now need to order an entirely new handle assembly, which is roughly $7 from Ryobi's website.

I recommend that you have your brush cutter serviced immediately before the problem progresses as it did with me. It is likely already too late.

I am very displeased with this machine. I purchased it brand new in 2006 and it has been constant problems since then. It is billed as being able to sufficiently cut through thick brush, but in reality cutting brush seems to damage the machine. After this experience I will likely never buy another ryobi product. The craftsmanship is very poor.

Front side disks overheating problem

You either have seized caliper pistons, bad brake hoses in combination with malfunctioning or missadjusted rear brakes. Were the caliper pistons hard to compress. If so tryy compressing them with the bleeder open. If they compress easily, the brake hoses are bad. They aren,t allowing fluid to return when pedal is released

I have a second hand old xbox out of warranty that keeps freezing after 2 min of playing this is with every game. what is happanin and how to fix.

well if u are getting two red lights.. this means its overheating. get a highpowered fan with its own power supply and stand the xbox up and set the fan near the bottom middlle closer to the side with the hardrive and this should stop the overheating as long as the air is moving agasint the xbox and rushing with the heat helping it stay cool due too lack of room and plastic missing near the video card which sets a fail safe[recent updates]when its hot so microsoft doesnt have to replace it for damage

Front Brakes

You may have this problem due to contaminated (and overheated) brake fluid. Most people don't usually flush out the brake system, which should be done whenever u do a brake job. Since yours are overheating also, that has to be diminishing the life of the fluid. Brake fluid will also absorb moisture (which is one reason u see instructions to use brake fluid from 'a sealed container.') So, be sure to thoroughly flush the system when u replace components this time, the contaminated fluid has been causing the calipers to 'drag' which wears out the brake pads prematurely.

High pitched squeal from TV

Get a small wood/plastic stick and touch the different coils/transformers to see which one is the cause. Replace part or if the part doesn't run hot, use a small amount of hot melt to quiet. Don't completely encapsulate in glue, don't want to create any hazards.
