Question about Car Audio Receivers
I JUST INSTALLED A KDC-MP532U CAR STEREO WITH A USB HOOKUP. AND WHEN I HOOK MY IPOD SHUFFLE TO IT IT SAYS
IT IS READING THEN SAYS NO MUSIC. BUT I KNOW THERE IS
MUSIC ON MY IPOD BECAUSE I CAN LISTEN TO IT BY ITSELF.
SOURCE: KDC-MP532U display blank
Solution from Tech48:
The problem is not the faceplate for any of you, it is inside the main unit. If you know how to solder, you can fix is very easy. First take the top off the unit, there is 1 screw in the back middle. Then take the CD player out. It has 2 screws holding it in at the front corners at the bottom of the CD deck. Use a number 2 phillips and take out the gold screws holding the CD deck in place. Then you can pull out the CD deck, and be careful not to damage the ribbon cable connected from the CD deck to the main board. The deck can just sit up and over to the left to get it out of the way for what needs to be soldered.
Look inside the main unit on the board and you will see in the front right corner a series of surface mount resistors all connected in series. Just reflow that solder on them with a small amount of new solder added and the display will once again work perfectly. That solder is very heat stressed, that is the problem. I have fixed dozens of these over the last few years. Make sure you put it back together the same as it came apart, and you are done.

it more than likely has bad solder connections inside the radio on some surface mount resistors usually located on the right front of the radio as it faces you.

Testimonial: "Thanks, I will give that a try. Can you tell me how to do it? Do i resolder all the joints or just some in specfic? Thanks, cet6969"
Hi If anything the stereo was probably designed and tested using a certain version of the Iphones software, now that version 4 has been released the way the IPhone communicates may have changed.
As a result the stereo is no longer able to talk to the phone and vice versa. your probably best off contacting Kenwood direct to see if they are aware of this problem and if there is anything that can be done about it.

SOURCE: I purchased a Kenwood KDC-
i had a similar issue only mine read the song title and everything but just gave no sound. i called up kenwood and the solution for me was take the ipod (5th gen nano) turn it on, flip the hold switch on then off, then press and hold both the menu and center button of the scroll wheel until the apple logo showed up and release them. wait for it to go back to the menu and plug it in. fixed my problem. they said it was something w/ the ipod not connecting properly or something. hope this helps a bit
