SOURCE: Mantis Tiller

check the fuek lines for hole and leaks, check the fuel filter and clean if necessary. remove the carbuerator and inspect the gasket; it should be soft and flexible, if it seems hard or brittle replace it. clean the carb with carb cleaner sray (available at any local auto parts store) and compressed air. make sure you get inside the small fuel rail holes. check the primer bulb for pin holes and seating/sealed properly. if that doesn't work have the carb repaired at a service center or replaced.

SOURCE: My 2 stroke mantis tiller will not prime.no fuel

I had the same problem, get a rebuild kit. It sounds like the diaphram is shot. Also make sure the prime bulb doesn't have any holes or cracks, the engine won't run if it does

SOURCE: trouble starting old Mantis tiller 9012 - don't have a manuel -

Mantis has the owners manuals in pdf format available for download on its website. The tillers are here (I hope the link to the tiller group works...if not, just go to the main site and look for "owners manuals" link.

Also, you can call a number and get a representative who usually can help at the numbers listed there, find authorized service people if its not something you can do yourself, order parts and find detailed schematics in the owners manuals. My dog actually ate mine. LOL. But they are free, the owners manuals, unlike other places that charge you for them like they were a "part".

SOURCE: when i press gas lever it dies --mantis tiller

Try checking the spark arrestor inside the muffler. They often get clogged and will not allow the exhaust to escape easily. I had this same issue and spent bou coup cash trying to fix the carb and intake side, then when I was going to check the compression, I removed the 3 screws on the muffler cover and 3 more screws on the spark arrestor and found the little screen was clogged. I cleaned it with carb cleaner and ... VOILA...problem solved. I hope this helps. If you call the company they will recommend a carb kit. Try the spark arrestor first (cheaper and easier, too). I hope this helps.

In the Mantis 2-cycle tiller:
SV number is located between the gas tank & the carburetor, behind the gas line, on a black and silver tab on the silver engine housing. It will consist of the letters "SV," a number and another letter.

Mantis tiller will not start. Cannot get primer bulb to draw fuel.I replaced all of the lines, primer bulb still won't work. Tiller will start by priming cylinder by removing spark plug. Help?

Make sure there are no leaks in the bulb. Did you reattach the fuel lijnes correctly? You should feel resistance after pushing 3 or 4 times to ensure fuel is getting to the carb. If necessary replace the bulb. Otherwise check with Mantis at www.mantis.com or give them a call for troubleshooting assistance.

How much gas to mix the oil in?

First check that your Mantis needs an oil/gas mixture, most of the newer Mantis tillers have four-stroke motors meaning they have oil in the crankcase and use straight gas. If your Mantis needs oil mixed in the gas use a 50:1 ratio. That's usually 2.6 ounces of two-cycle oil (it's sold in bottles that size) to one gallon of gas but read the oil bottle to get the proper mix ratio.
