Paper feeds through the printer but nothing prints. I thought I was out of ink, so bought new black ink and replaced it. The first page printed but the next sheets came out blank. It was making noise...

the problem will be on the cartridge reader. you should see if the ink disposal system is running as fluid as possible.
Check on the driver also, uninstall then reinstall it back.

Jan 17, 2011 | Brother MFC-5840CN All-In-One InkJet...

1 Answer

I have a Brother MFC-210. It was working well. When I moved and hooked it back up. It was printing some pages fine and then it started printing double like 3d. Started with a few words. Now the whole page...

Check the alignment. Press the key for Ink or Ink Management on the Control Panel. Select Test Print (the up/down arrows) and hit Menu/Set or Set. Select Alignment and press Menu/Set or Set. Next hit Mono (Black) Start. Look at the Alignment Sheet that prints out. Press 1 if the number 5 sample matches line 0 for both 600 and 1200 DPI samples. Press 2 and then the number for the line that matches that matches the 0 sample.
Then press Stop/Exit. Repeat this for color printing by using the Color button.

You should also check the Print Quality. (Very similar menu choices - just choose Print Quality after choosing Test Print but you only need to hit the Color button to print the test sheet.) This will initiate a cleaning cycle for any poor quality ink test pattern. You will need to respond Yes or No for the print quality and each ink (if you answered No). If you do the cleaning 5 times with problems, replace the cartridges in question.

Finally try cleaning the printhead (Press Ink or Ink Management and then 1 for cleaning) If 5 repeats do not help, contact Brother support, the print head may need to be replaced. (Unfortunately, this isn't the only reason for the problem. Once you put in a print head, it isn't returnable. It could be that the entire printer is ready for recycling.)

I hope this helps.

My printer wnt work i boght new ink but it wont print

Hi

whenever you put new ink cartridges, your printer prints an alignment sheet
if your printer isn't printing,
one of the concern could be that it didn't print the alignment, uninstall the cartridges and put them back again.

also try printing an alignment sheet using the printer driver located in the control panel, printers and faxes
once you go into the properties and click on the device settings and click on service this device you will get option to print alignment sheet
this should work

My copy prints come out blurry after changing ink cartiges

Try this:
Checking the print quality:
  1. Press the Ink or Ink Management key on the control panel.
  2. Press the up or down navigation key to select TEST PRINT and press Menu/Set or Set.
  3. Press the up or down navigation key to select PRINT QUALITY and press Menu/Set or Set.
  4. Press Color (Colour) Start. The MFC/DCP begins printing the Print Quality Test Sheet.
  5. By reviewing this Test Sheet, you can determine if the print quality needs improvement.
  6. Closely examine the print quality of the four color blocks that are formed by short diagonal lines on the Test Sheet.
If all lines are clear and visible, press 1 (YES) and press Stop/Exit.
If you can see missing short lines, press 2 (NO) and go to Step 7.
  7. The display will then ask you if the print quality is OK for black and three colors. Press 2 (NO) for black or three colors with the problem.
  8. The display will then show START CLEANING? 1.YES 2. NO.
Press 1 (YES) and the MFC will start cleaning the color ink cartridges.
  9. After the cleaning is finished, press Color (Colour) Start. The MFC/DCP will print another Print Quality Test Sheet.
  10. If you can see missing short lines in any of the four color blocks press 2 (NO) and repeat the quality check and cleaning process. Repeat this procedure at least 5 times if print quality remains a problem. If short lines are still missing after the fifth cleaning and test print, replace the necessary ink cartridges. If the print quality of the 4 color blocks is OK, press 1 (YES).
Setting the Alignment:
  1. Press the Ink or Ink Management key on the control panel.
  2. Press the up or down navigation key to select TEST PRINT and press Menu/Set or Set.
  3. Press the up or down navigation key to select ALIGNMENT and press Menu/Set or Set.
  4. Press Black (Mono) Start or Color (Colour) Start. The MFC/DCP begins printing the Alignment Check Sheet.
  5. By reviewing this Test Sheet, you can determine if the alignment needs adjustment.
  6. Examine the 600 DPI and 1200 DPI test prints on the Alignment Check Sheet. If the number 5 sample of both the 600 DPI and 1200 DPI most closely matches the 0 sample, press 1 (YES).
If one of the other samples is a better match for the 0 sample, press 2 (NO). The display will then prompt you to select the sample that most closely matches the 0 sample for 600 DPI and then 1200 DPI.
  7. Press Stop/Exit.
If I could be of further assistance, let me know. If this helps or solves the issue, please RATE it.
    Thanks, Joe

Printer won't print

Remove the black and color ink cartridges.
Right above where the black ink cartridge was, in the top left hand corner of the printhead, push up towards the ceiling and you should be able to push a button that releases the printhead.
Place the printhead right back into the printer and push straight back on the back wall.
You should hear a loud snap.
Replace the ink cartridges which should snap as well.
Close the printer.
After about a minute or so the printer will ask you to do a calibration.
Insert a paper and press start.
Scan the calibration sheet.
After that, in the menu, do a printhead clean.
Do one basic and one deep.
Print a demo sheet to see if anything has changed.
If the picture looks better, continue to do cleans.
In the event that it does not, the printhead will need to be replaced and since the printer is still under warranty, Kodak specialists will try to overnight you a printhead.
The whole process is short and free.
The number for Kodak AiO Support is 1 800 421 6699.

Magenta printing as yellow

Well, first off, are the alignment, and nozzle check sheets looking good? If not, then work on that. If so, then we have a problem. Try creating a test sheet in Word. Make red, yellow blue & black text and see if anything else prints wrong. Get back to me!
