Question about Hanna Instruments Waterproof pH Tester with Replaceable Electrode w/ Accuracy ±0.1 pH

1 Answer

The probe won't measure the temperature, but it measures conductivity, pH and TDS accurately. 0.0 °C keeps flashing on the screen.

The dash where the time and temperature are the clock works but the temp stays on 7 degrees even though it is 30 degrees outside and car was in the sun.

The external temperature probe is usually located behind a fender/bumper to keep it out of the air flow for a more accurate measurement, that is why the temperature drops after starting off as it sits in a pocket of warm air. It is not in direct sunlight so that shouldn't have harmed it.

Haw do i calibrate metller toledo mp220 ph metter

1ST YOUR GONNA NEED BUFFERS:

All pH meters require calibration standards to ensure that the readings are traceable to a standard. Always choose a pH 7 buffer plus at least one other pH value close to your expected measurement range. Using solutions of known pH value allow you to adjust the system to read accurate measurements. Calibration should be performed before each reading or each set of readings.
After that this model has auto buffer select and it will tell You what buffer you put it in , also will ask if you want to correct it as well

Oven temperature on Neff 195305317 circotherm oven

hi remember that electric can kill you even if it is unplugged, if you don't know what components are likely to hold charge or have large inductance get someone else to fix it.

you need to get the service manual as tis will have fault finding charts, part numbers, location of sensors etc. If you can't get manual then:
Not likely to be temp limiter as this cuts out if temp is too hot. Find temp probe, may be ntc, mercury vapour switch etc. take probe out disconnect leads and measure resistance, heat, or cool, probe measure resistance if not significantly different (ie 10k to 100k or 100k to 300k) then probe is shot. Take probe to spares place, get replacement and refit. Be very careful to refit leads exactly as they came out, don't want insulation to melt and oven to become live. test with oven or meat thermometer as new sensor may need calibration. Should be accurate to within 10C or so

hope this helps

Raytek FoodPro plus, when I press the mode button to use the probe, the temperature goes straight up and then errors, red light and all the numbers turn to 88888, anybody got any ideas?

Is the probe extended when this condition occurs?

Probe Mode
To measure the internal temperature of an object, extend the probe (see
Figure 3) and press the SELECT button until the Probe Icon is displayed
(see Figure 4). Insert the probe at least 12 mm (1/2 ") into the target and
press the ON button to measure the core temperature.
The Probe Icon on the display will blink for approximately 15 seconds as
the probe comes to equilibrium with the object being measured. Three
short beeps will sound to indicate the reading is complete and the
temperature will be shown on the display. When the highest accuracy is
required, it is advisable to repeat the measurement cycle to insure the
probe has fully stabilized and reached equilibrium with the object.

How are you increasing the orp if not with chlorine?
ORP is not a direct chlorine reading and can be misread for a number of reasons, if your alkalinity, ph, cyanuric acid, or TDS levels are out of control, the ORP reading on any controller will be mute. These controllers manage ph and chlorine only (typically), but all the other chemicals and water treatment rules still need to be handles by the user.

It is also possible that your orp probe has gone bad. The most important thing to have dialed in is the pH, otherwise you will never get a correct ORP reading, as they are only accurate when in between 7.2-7.8 pH value.

Also, if you cant raise the pH above .5 no matter how much chlorine you add, you might just have old contaminated water, if the TDS and the CYA are extremely high, you will see this scenario.

Temperature probe is reading about 25 degrees F too high. How do I re-calibrate this

these are not very accurate but your reading are out of spec. definitely
check probe and also leave it for some time and then check measurement (5 min or so) maybe it needs longer top stabilize
temperature (K type) uses mV for calculation and therefore cannot be adjusted without adjusting mV DC setting also (if that is possible on this meter)

How to identify a defective rectifier diode

You can check a rectifier diode using a multimeter - Set the meter to the lowest ohm range and place the probes at each end of the diode. Take a reading then reverse the probes at the ends of the diode and take a reading again.
A good diode will show a low reading when the diode conducts and a high reading when it does not conduct when the probes are swapped around.
A bad diode will show a low reading (short circuit) when it the measurements are taken both ways.
A bad diode will show a high reading (open circuit) when it the measurements are taken both ways.

This is may not be accurate if the diodes are still soldered to the circuit board, you may need to unsolder one leg of the diode free of the circuit board and then carry out the measurements to get a true reading on the diodes.

THE OVEN TEMPRATURE IS NOT CONSISTENT.IT KEEPS BURNING FOOD.

Usually this is due to a bad temperature sensor. Sometimes it's due to a control board malfunction.

If you can get an accurate measurement of the oven temperature (which is not as easy as it sounds) you can do some diagnosis from the outside:

You need an accurate thermometer or thermocouple into a DVM. Make sure there are no obstructions in the oven (baking sheets, etc). Make sure you are measuring the temperature in the center of the oven cavity.

1. If the average measured oven temperature agrees with the display, the sensor is probably ok. The controller cycles the element on and off, at a rate that results in a correct average temperature. So you have to record the thermometer reading min and max over several cycles.

2. If the sensor seems ok from #1, it can be verified by disconnecting it and measuring its resistance. Should be 1080 ohms at 70F.

3. If the sensor seems ok, but the oven temperature is erratic, then it's probably a control board issue. We repair these at www.fixyourboard.com
