Power light is red on 2wire modem

I don't believe I had any power outage, the power light simply started turning red. It was going back and forth between red and green but it has been solid red for a while now. I called Quest for help and they just had me power cycle it and use the reset button in the back, neither worked so they told me I needed a new modem. It is only a year old and I haven't had any problems with it up to this point.
