I have the same problem with my batteries running out after 1 or 2 pictures. I have two sets of rechargeable batteries and have one set charging all the time. I put them in the camera and I see a fully charged battery icon, then zip off 1 or 2 pictures and the camera simply stops working. I try the other set of charged batteries with the same result. I even tried regular batteries to no avail. I've had the camera for 3 years and noticed the problem about a year ago. It's a good camera with lots of features; now I can't use it at all. Help.

What kind are the batteries that you are using? You should be using NiMH rechargeable, made for digital cameras. Kodak make some good ones. That is what I use.

If the batteries are NiMH and the camera is still not staying on, then the batteries are not fully charged. Charge them overnight.

Regular alkaline batteries will never work more for more than one or two pictures.

Power on n off

sounds like a battery power problem or problem with the terminal of the camera ; you know the point where the battery meets the camera.
I would recommend a service center

There are three battery type settings in the set up menu: Alkaline, COOLPiX(NiMH) and Lithium. Might be worth looking at. To be continued.

Are you using Lithium batteries?

ALL Kodak cameras have huge problems with alkaline batteries (including brand new ones)..

Hope this helps.

Batteries

This happens with almost all digital cameras. You have a couple options. first you can buy lithium batteries, which are a little more expensive but last considerably longer in digital cameras.

The second is you can buy rechargeable batteries, which in my opinion is the best option because you can reuse them, and they also last really long in digital cameras.

the problem is, you just cant really put normal batteries in digital cameras. Lame but true

I hope that my answer was of help!
