    eee 900

  • giltongrange Jun 26, 2009

All of the keys are not working. When the problem first occured I could turn computer off and reset and it will then start to work. If I leave the computer on for a while, with out touch a key then it may not work. Everything is frozen, but I could still get the internet fine. I have another Eee 900 and that one is during find, all of my other labtops working so I ruled out a networking issue. I have good connections.

I've read what you've done so far. Its possible that your PS2 port failed, or USB is that is what you are using.

Aside of that, you can write zeros to your hard drive, and then boot the computer with your XP disc in the CD player. You will be asked to partion the drive, and then format it, then then install the system.

You can download a program from the the manufacturer of the hard drive to write zeros to the drive. Burn the program to a CD or save it on a floppy. Boot the computer with the program in the drive, and then write zeros to the drive. This will provide a clean install

clean install means, reformat the unit instead of using the restore oprtions on installing.

of course you need your disc.

the disc that also came with your laptop. you will need this to format & install again the software on your unit.

    Instruction How to Install winXP;

    1. Insert the Windows XP CD into your computer while it's powered on.

    2. Turn off your computer, and then turn it on again, using the power button on the front

    3. Watch the screen and look for text to appear asking if you would like to boot off the CD by pressing any key. When this text appears press enter.

    4. You may be asked if you would like to repair Windows or install windows, select Install, DO NOT SELECT REPAIR.

    5. (The windows installation process will give you explicit instructions on what to press)

    6. The license agreement will appear, press the function-key "F8"* to agree. *("F8 is a function-key, the function keys are labeled F1 to F12, and are located above the numbers on your keyboard)

    7. Windows May see another copy of windows on the hard disk, seeing this copy it will ask you whether you want to try to repair. You will need to select not to repair it by pressing the "Escape" key and then another key. (The windows installation process will give you explicit instructions on what to press)

    8. You will be presented with a screen which will show you your hard drive partitions, one at a time you will select and delete the partitions.

    9. To select and delete a partition use the arrow keys to highlight one of them, then press the "D" Key, then Press the "Enter" Key, then press the "L" Key.

    10. Repeat Step 8 until all that remains is an entry called "Unpartitioned Space"

    11. Make sure the area called "Unpartitioned Space" is highlighted and press "Enter"

    12. Select to format your computer using NTFS (Quick) using the arrow keys, and press the "Enter" key

    13. You can now ignore your computer for the next 5 to 20 minutes*; or if you prefer you can sit and wait for the next prompt. *(During this time Windows will format the Hard Disk, Copy set-up files to the new partition, and reboot the computer. The setup will then reload and do some initial steps. This time varies upon the speed of several components within your computer outside the scope of this eHow.)

    14. Windows will stop progress on the installation and wait for you when it reaches a screen where it asks you for the Product Code for Windows*. (The product Code will either be on a sticker on the side of your computer, or it will be on the CD case, or a piece of paper inside the box, which the installation CD came in.)

    15. You can now wait another 5 to 20 minutes while windows continues to install components.

    16. After a while windows will ask you some basic setup questions, such as what you want to name your computer (Use your imagination), what your name and company name are (Something generic like "Admin" is fine), and the username you want to logon with (your name is fine).

    17. Windows will ask you if you want to turn on Automatic Updates, select the affirmative option, and click next, windows will ask you if you want to register, you can skip this if you prefer.

    18. Depending on the copy of windows Media you posses you may be asked to activate your copy, you will NEED to do this, follow the prompts on the screen to complete this process if your copy of windows requires it.

Boot Problem in my ASUS Eee PC 900 netbook

First - re-seat the hard disk and reboot the computer. If the computer does not boot up then reboot and go into the BIOS configuration to see if the BIOS detects the hard drive. If it doesn't detect the hard drive then it could be faulty.
Then the hard drive needs to be replaced in the computer/laptop, Windows installed and the computer or laptop's device drivers plus your programs etc. to get a functioning computer/laptop again.

Asus eee pc 900 netbook will not boot. Error message says remove disks or other media press any key to restart

Hi guys, i hope this could bring little light to this boot-stop error. First of all sorry for my english /slovakia/. So thi applies for asus eeepc 1005HA /maybe some other models too - depending on motherboard construction. In my case it was 2 parts motherboard which were conected via flex cable. Both parts contrains USB ports which is the think what stops you access to BIOS and all functions. If you hit TAB button during start up /best way to do so before pressing powerbutton/ you will see post messages, which stops on inicializing USB controlers. So what you need to do is
1. turn on computer
2.unplug flex cable which leds to usb ports
3. now you should see progress on your screen, so go to BIOS /F2/
4. visit ADVANCE tab
5. visit ide onboard configuration
6. check for usb controler configuration
7. mark it as DISABLED
8. hit F10 to save your settings
9.reboot

after this hint you will have full access to all functions like before, USB ports included.

hope this little research hlep u too, my eee1005HA is now glowing

Net book reboots itself after shutdown

That would make sense, go into bios setting and choose factory default, "long shot" but might work.

To whom it may concern, A couple of months ago, My Netbook rebooted itself . I dont know why it did it on its own. It wiped everything from the desktop including the USB camera device driver. I have...

You can use web cam Drivers CD to restore the cam drivers. In case you dont have the drivers CD, you may download the drivers from the internet. Restoring/ downloading the web cam drivers depends upon the make/ model of web cam and the Operating System you have on your PC. Let me know the make/ model and Operating System Detail and I'll try to search for the drivers.
Secondly, almost any good quality USB cam compatible with you Operating System (e.g. Windows XP) can be used.

Let me know if any further clarification/ assistance is required.

Good Luck!

When my asus notebook Eee 900 starts up it says WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\ CONFIG\SYSTEM file is missing. How can i fix it?

Do you have your own copy of windows with the unit..
Ifyou do.. put cd in , reboot, F12 or delete while booting to get into bios. once in the bios. look for Boot Sequence.. CD should be #1 Hard drive the last...Reboot again... the scrren should say :press any key for cd boot"
As the cd boots sometime it asks thrre things Install windows
Copy files only
do you wish to repair
If you don't get the repair mode copy files only
It will tell you already have, do you want to overwrite.. Yes to all
Hope that helps you

Download anti-virus tools to a USB memory-stick, using a "trusted" computer, and then connect the memory-stick to your computer. Restart your computer, and choose Safe Mode. You'll be able to access the files on the memory-stick.

I have an eee pc 900 series, and the camera is not being detected

To turn the camera on IS in the BIOS. It's not in a logical "camera" spot but it's in there. My camera on my Eee PC 1000H got turned off somehow (not by me or by a BIO upgrade) so I found it and fixed it. Look for it in the BIOS menu's. It's there.
