Question about LG Televison & Video
I've been given a very large 57'' Projection TV on wheels, when it's turned on there is a lot of arcing underneath the Fly Back Transformer for 2-3 seconds and after around 6 seconds the TV returns to standby mode (red light) without actually turning on sound/video.
I had approached a local TV repairer who wanted $80 just to drive up to my front door before even looking at the TV, so I quickly realised I'd need to do this myself. I'm proficient in repairing other electronics and have desoldered the transformer from the board, added insulation around the exposed terminals and resoldered it in there but the arcing is still occuring.
Would it be worth my while in purchasing a new Fly Back Transformer and fitting that? Or could the problem be elsewhere, overloading the transformer?
Any help would be very greatly appreciated.

Wow they are charging you alot for this repair my friend. Go to this link and you will see! The High Voltage transformer, also known as a flyback only cost 50.00 Bucks!http://www.partstore.com/ProductDetail.aspx?ProductSKU=2187762&ProductType=PART&ModelID=420798 I would get the part and let someone replace it If you have no soldering and or TV repair experience, as this is a dangerous place to be experimenting with if you do not know the safety issues involved. Good Luck Please dont forget to rate this thread.

The lead going from the flyback to that other device is a voltage divider or splitter as they're incorrectly referred to... To remove the leads press down firmly, twist and then pull up...

This transformer does not come with the hv lead,if the arch is coming from the side of the transformer, cut the side of the plug were it goes into the transformer and the lead will come out, there is no voltage stored on the hv lead after the set is unpluged for a few min.,the transformer you can get at any rca repair center.
