Canon MX850 Film Adapter Unit (FAU)?

Is there a Film Adapter Unit (FAU) for the Canon MX850 all-in-one printer? Some vendor sites (i.e. Amazon) list this in their product description but there is no FAU in the box and no mention of it in the printer manuals. Do Canon make one and can it be bought separately?

SOURCE: canon bjc 80 printer- no driver- ibm thinkpad laptop- compatible?

You can download the software from Canon.

Here is the page to download the driver from:

BJC Support

Click on the "Drivers & Downloads" tab. Select your operating system from the dropdown menu. (Windows 98)

Click on the red link for the driver BJ_v397.exe.

When the download window opens, select "Save" and select a location you know how to access after the download. For an easy way, save it to your Desktop.

After the download, connect the printer, turn it on. Then run (doubleclick) the file you saved.

No. It's not probably not you.
If you have placed the paper between the guides, and snugged them up, it should go (relatively) straight -simple as that.
If not, then likely something is missing, bent, or broken. Return it for a new replacement - that's what warranties are for.

SOURCE: Attach a Canon MX850 printer to my new

Hello.

Your computer can only add printers it sees, whether connected or networked.

You didn't indicate if other computers can print to that printer. If your new computer is the only one, I'd suggest to reinstall your WiFi printer and try to add the printer again.

Hope this helps.

Where can I get a Parts List for a Canon MX850 MF Unit

Ink Absorber Full

This may clear the ink absorber problem.
There is ink absorbers located at both ends of the printer where the ink head move.
To dry the ink absorber, power up the printer and open the cover so the ink cartridges and print head will move to the middle of the printer.
Then take several sheets of absorbent tissue, fold it into a pad and place it inside the printer over the ink absorber on the far left hand side of the printer to soak up the excess ink. You may need to change the absorbent tissue a few times. Then repeat the same procedure on the right hand ink absorber.
Close the lid and the printer should now function normally.

Negative or positive option is not available on drop down menu on select source on ScanGear CS so how do I scan film? I am trying to scan 35mm film on my Canon 5200 F scanner using ScanGear. The manual...

I just had the same problem, turned out my FAU cable was not properly connected. Ensure that the cable is all the way inserted at the back of your printer, and connect the device to your computer. I hope this will work for you too:)

No option to scan Film Negatives

In order to see these options, you must have the Film Adapter Unit (FAU) attached to the scanner. The FAU is designed to scan in 35mm film, either positive or negative. The scanner has no options to scan in mounted 35mm slides.

Does the scanner work for scanning at all? If not, you may have a communication problem between the computer and the scanner, i.e., the computer doesn't know how the scanner is configured so it doesn't show the options. If it's a communication problem, check for any other USB devices that might interfere with communication. Especially, some printers seem to take over communications. Try disconnecting all other USB devices (except keyboard, mouse, etc.), reboot, and see if the situation corrects itself.

Also, try the online troubleshooting database for this model at this link.

Code2,178,0

This is caused by a faulty FAU cable. One, or more, of the eight wires within this cable has fractured and unless you are handy with fine wires and a soldering iron, it's off to the scanner shop, I'm afraid.

Canon CanoScan5000/5000F - light bulb out

TheComp, I tried what you suggested, but no luck. The scanner is dead. The computer does not even read the scanner through the usb. I called Canon tech support. They tell me that this unit is not serviceable and offered a 20% discount to buy another Canon scanner. No thanks. I don't need another piece of electronic junk. I'll wait for a sale to buy another make. Thanks for your help.
