This is a common issue the lens gears are stripped. you have to change them out. if you do not fell confortable doing this it is recomended to take it to a digital camera repair company the only proble with that is like most people find out is their is not that many of us around and even if you do find one they might not work on casio. I do and their are a few others. hope this helps.

I cannot open my casio ex-z77, when i try to open it, it is always retry power on or sometimes lens error, how can i fix it?

Lens errors are fairly common. Usually it's sand or grit interfering with the lens extension mechanism. Or the camera's been dropped with the lens extended. Or the camera has been powered on, but the lens had been blocked preventing its extension. Or the battery ran down with the lens extended ... Unfortunately, many cameras that fall prey to this can only be corrected by professional repair. But, here are some things that you can do that may correct it. They only seem to work for less than 40% of the lens errors, but if the camera is out of warranty, they're worth a try.

Casio ex-z77/ lens error

you might have pushed the lens into the barrel. small lens barrel has 3 metal pins that ride inside the larger lens barrel as it twists. Pushing it sometimes cracks the plastic holding these 3 pins in. one way to fix it is to carefully disassemble the entire lens barrel. be careful...sometimes a part just snaps, or is already snapped. The easiest way would be to replace the lens assembly with a good one you can get from another camera like this. There are no spare parts for cams like this so you can try to get another cam that has a different damage other than the lens barrel.

Lens Error

Hey Joy_2008,
A lens error usually means something is obstructing the movement of the lens (i.e. sand). You could try blowing compressed air into the side of the lens to try and dislodge whatever is stuck in the lens. You could also try placing the camera on a flat surface with the lens pointed up. While holding the shutter button in turn on the camera. What this sometimes does is force the lens to move before the camera shuts down, and when the lens moves hopefully it will dislodge whatever is stuck. If none of this works I would have the camera looked at by an authorized service technician. I hope this helps!

Sincerely,
Allan
