To update the existing map for you Nextar product, please
contact Nextar to find out if any new map information has become
available. Nextar products are usually pre-loaded with USA/Canada maps,
depending on the model. If you need updates
Since the operating system and navigation software are preloaded into the internal flash memory of the GPS, the freezing may either be software or hardware failure. First, press the "Reset" button or push the stylus into the "Reset" hole, to see if the navigation software can load successfully. If the program still does not load, then the software may be corrupted. Also, if the internal memory fails to read or write and the software cannot load properly, it may be caused by hardware failure. In this case you must return the unit for exchange or repair to the retail location from which you purchased it, or contact Nextar for further assistance.
Hi. You are facing this problem because of the US GPS Satellite because there's a sudden change with the code signal which leads to GPS signal anomalies. Even though you've traded it. the problem is still there. It's better to go with another brand or model. As this problem cannot be fixed with this unit.
I don't have a solution, but apparently Nextar has had a ton of people with the same problem. So just know that it's not just your gps unit that is doing this. I even tried exchanging it out for a new one and it even did the same thing. No signal and frozen in one spot... I went with Tomtom and it works great!
Here is a proposed solution. We nextar owners who purchased this, not just for the low price, but for the many selling points. one of which is the ability to "update very soon". This constitutes a deceptive sales practice. Thereby, it is a fraud. This is illegal.
That leaves us consumers with one option. That option is to File a lawsuit against Nextar and their licenced retailers.
We need to band together, organize as a consumer group and either force nextar to comply, or we sue for the cost of a new unit from another company, plus punitive damages.
We as consumers can not continue to accept abuse like this from large corporations.
Solution #1 is incorrect. Just bought on of these units at K-Mart the other day. The X3-03 uses NAVTEQ maps, it's even mentioned in the owners manual. Plus there is no CD software that comes with the unit. Plugging the unit into any PC just makes the PC make connect and disconnect alert sounds repeatedly until the unit is unplugged from the USB port. It never even asks where the driver files are.
I to contacted Nextar through email and asked about updates to the unit and maps. This was their response:
